What distance is long distance?

I have heard people say that they're in a long distance relationship with someone in another state or part of the country. I knew one person whose girlfriend lived in Brazil while we lived in the U. S.

In the show Meet Me in St. Louis separate municipalities were considered long-distance since we didn't have cars or airplanes.

So what makes a relationship long-distance for you?

This is a really subjective question. I think a lot of it has to do with circumstances. Personally at a rough estimate, I would consider it a long distance relationship if you reasonably have to get a flight (of any length), or if getting there by car or train takes more than 5 hours. But if the travel was prohibitively expensive, or if there's an international border involved, maybe I would consider it LDR at a shorter distance than that.

Long distance to me is anything outside of my city. But i only consider it “far” if i have to drive more than 3 hours to see them

For me , long distance is at a minimum a long enough drive that you can only see someone only on the weekends, once a week , or less in person

If you can't interact in person everyday, it's long distance. If you've never met face to face, you're fooling yourself

I won't date anyone I haven't met in person. I am not opposed to meeting them and seeing if we click, but I won't call her my girlfriend or say I love her until I meet her in person.

if I had to drive two hours to meet... I call that a long distance, that's a different city already... lol

I laughed a little at this because my sister went to a different AT&T store than I did, mainly because mine was closed that day and she got a different area code when we were both still in highschool (and therefore living in the same house). So we live near the border if 636 and 314. Country code of +1 is the same.

Are those similar area codes? New York City has many area codes: 212, 917, 646, 718, 347, etc. Maybe area codes can be different if it’s in the same city or county, but in another state (like Фiladelфia to Bergen County, NJ) you need extra gelt to pay.
