Do you tell your partner what you earn?

I think your partner should know on the basis of splitting bills and rent etc. But my partner disagrees and doesn’t think you should have to tell your significant other what you earn. Thoughts?

My last live-in girlfriend didn't know how much I made. She knew it was past a certain point because she knows my grade and step, and as a federal employee she can google what that pay is. She didn't know how much money my other assets were generating, because that's really none of her concern.

If not , then they have no reason to need to know.

My wife knows what I make. She knows how much I charge per hour and about how long I'm at my jobs
