Did he overreact of not?

I broke a glass for a second time in a year (as long as we're dating) and he told me that I'm clumbsy and that I should have a plastic cup because I break so many glasses while he never does. And that my quirks (being an arachnophobe and apparently being clumbsy as well) can be too much.

Buying a new glass was not the solution for anyone wandering as I said that I will buy his parents (who did not react at all) a new same one. As was cleaning up which I wanted to but he did it instead.

I told him that people break glasses, it's a part of life. And if that I should have a plastic cup that maybe his parents should also have that as they previously broke 2 of his favourite glasses. We talked and later he said that thats not what he meant.

I felt like he overreacted with such a small thing and wrongfully threated me as a child. Did he overreact in your opinion or should I really get myself a plastic cup for being too clumbsy.
