What are things that make you feel secure in a relationship?

So my relationship is a little different then what most people have. My boyfriend is in prison. So the long story is we were supposed to have a video visit, and I thought I was waiting on them, I thought maybe he was late or something but eventually I called the prison to find out what happened and the officer told me I never connected to the visit, even though it seemed like i did. I felt completely horrible. I was literally crying the entire day. And after a lot of hours my boyfriend called me. He was obviously upset. I was hysterical and crying not making any sense. I was trying to tell him I didn't stand him up. He thought i stood him up. The thing that he said that completely made me upset was "every story has two sides, and only God knows what really happened" I took this as him believing the officer over me and saying i was lying. So the next day I started a big fight with him and I told him "I'm not sure about this relationship anymore and I think I need some space" obviously it was a completely horrible thing to say. And I've apologized a bunch. I take complete responsibility for acting childish and saying that, but I've told him up and down I didn't really mean it, it was just a horrible thing i said in the heat of the moment. But sadly now he says he doesn't feel secure in this relationship because now he's afraid of two things, one is he's afraid that if we get in an argument I'm just going to quit and leave, and two is he's afraid I'm looking for an easy way out. Obviously there is nothing I want more than to stay with him and work things out, and I've told him this. I just want him to know that I'm here for the long haul.

So my questions are, what can I do to regain his trust? And what are some actions I can take to make him feel secure?
