My boyfriend has almost nothing "personal" on his Facebook, why does this bother me?

His profile pic is some anime character, he has NO photos of himself, family, friends, me - not even his car or his dog.

His bio is minimally filled out, he DOES have our relationship status, but all he really posts are memes and videos to science stuff he finds interesting.

He said he doesn't like his private information or photo being online, he relented enough to let me post a pic of the pair of us as my profile pic (but won't set it to his pic, which annoys me).

He also has it set so he has to approve all tags.

What should I do / say? I don't like this and it seems like a red flag.

This is your insecurity.

What meaning are you ascribing to him not posting on that crap? Insecurity that he's allegedly being secretive? Or some kind of need to show off socially so you can impress your friends and family with your perfect life? Does all that give you meaning? Mean that you're someone of value just because you have this perfect boyfriend?

I'll tell you now, social media is complete meaningless garbage. Plus given how information is harvested it's actually not safe to post all your wares online. I'm sure a company has just been taken to task not long ago for harvesting everybody's profile photos on facebook, obviously against their knowledge, and using it in some kind of facial recognition software.

Then there's the halfwits who are mindlessly scrolling, you know, rather than interact with real life, rather than interact with the person actually with you, rather than actually do something meaningful with your life. Cause you know, that requires effort and courage.

I'm absolutely with your boyfriend. Social media is for contemptible people.

If anything I’d say the fact that you having a problem with someone not wanting to put their personal info out there is the red flag. I don’t feel compelled to share anything and everything with everyone always.

lol my partners is like this. he says he doesn't want anyone in his business. mainly family too.

it doesn't really annoy me at all. 7 years ago i was a bit upset that he didn't like me mentioning him in a status. so i learned real quick not to. sometimes it sucks, but really it doesn't even matter in the long run.
