Had something similar... Driving, on the way here from Ohio with a girlfriend I had in college, passing a car, out in the dessert with a single white driver, I gave him the finger for something stupid he did while I was passing him... the girl friend POUNDED ME IN THE SHOULDER WITH HER FIST... VERY HARD... saying..."what if he pulled a gun and shot you"?

I stopped the car, off the side of the road, and told her..."if you EVER lay hands on me ever again... you will be on your way back to Ohio, ... in a heart beat"

While in California, driving to LA, SHE mouthed to two Mexican's..."STUPID" ! while driving on the freeway... I then asked her..."What if THEY had a gun and shot you through the window" (More likely to happen in LA, than out in the dessert with a middle aged white man... wouldn't you say... Coach?

She moved back to Ohio sometime later... mercifully

Not trying to come off like some super tough guy (I'm not) but I mean a slap isn't going to be the type of thing for which I need therapy or a hospital to recover from. Just last year I received this from a bar brawl taking some really hard punches from a guy much bigger than me who totally kicked my ass.


And that wasn't such a big deal either. I thought it was funny and showed off the bruises. 😅

Now if I slapped my wife though, that would be horrible. I might break up with her if I did since I would feel so guilty and would not want her to stay with a husband who hit her. But that's not a double standard as I see it because it's my duty to protect her from harm as man to woman which I would have failed, not her duty to protect me from harm. She doesn't fail anything if she slaps me except just behaving immaturely. We'll have to work on that immaturity but it's not the end of the world.

Wasn't so bad in that case because the guy was a complete gentleman and helped me back up to my feet after he knocked me down. Also I think I was being out of line; was way drunk. I'm only half-Japanese and sometimes Japanese treat me poorly sometimes being half and when I combine that with heavy drinking, I start to get paranoid and think every single person who even treats me with the slightest bit of disrespect is out to get me. So I made the mistake with that guy and he kicked my ass but then everything was cool and I was like, "Dude, you're an amazing fighter!" and I bought him some drinks.

One thing though from a Q I remembered, there was a man on here who asked a Q where his wife completely messed up his music playlist on his phone. Now that would seriously upset me if my wife did that. We'd have to have a serious talk about that after and maybe even go to marriage counseling if my wife did that to me. @AngryCarl Felt like it! He was over a head taller than me and I learned from him later after we became buds over drinks that he studied Karate. I think that punch on the chest was one of the hardest I've ever taken. He kept it very civil though keeping it around the body. I think I would have been knocked out cold if he hit me in the face with one of those punches.

It was all just a misunderstanding though. I've since quit drinking alcohol and in part since I was starting to lose my mind a bit. Started to develop dementia-like symptoms towards the end.

@AngryCarl He also gave me a gut punch around the lower left part of my rib. I think that caved in my lungs a bit since I was wheezing and coughing for weeks after and it was itchy to breathe on my left side of the lung. Don't think it damaged any ribs though.

That said, I'm used to skateboarding and other extreme sports and I think I've taken much worse hits and didn't bruise so badly. I think the reason these bruises look so bad is not only because I was hit very hard but also because I was extremely drunk (I already drank one whole bottle of whiskey before I went out to the bar and then drank way more at the bar).


I think the extreme intoxication had the vasodilation effect which contributed to the extreme bruising.
