Do you think there would even be an abortion debate if men could get pregnant?

Well, I would assume that the pro-life men would still adhere to their word and have the baby, if they could get pregnant. I’m pro-life, so if I could become pregnant, I can’t see myself killing the baby; I just wouldn’t be comfortable with myself moving forward. I want children in my life, so having children is not undesirable to me at all. I think for me, it’s more about timing than whether or not I want to have children. As of right now, I’m not in any state to support a family, but in the near future, I will be.
What was the point of giving me this one example? There’s billions of people on this planet... Of course, there will be hypocrites in either sex, for either topic, and in any place on the planet...
@Goodwifie and @morimeme1
Well, again, there will be hypocrites. I’m saying what I would personally do and my opinion, so I cannot speak for anyone else.
Yes, there'd still be debates. I feel like this issue divides men and women even though It really shouldn't. Sure, women go through the physical process of giving birth, but the responsibility of parenthood go to both genders. That's why nobody should be excluded in this debate, because everybody is affected. I'm pro-choice, but the more you try to exclude men from the topic the less likely they will understand.
Yeah, you're right. I believe that once the father rejects his custody over the unborn child, it can be aborted by her choice. Most pro-life men's arguments consist of religious points such as the sacrality of life. Same for women, actually. If men were the ones getting pregnant, there would still be men who go pro-life just as there are women today who oppose abortion.
The tables would turn and the women would have all the power because the men would now be the home makers and women would be the main bread winners.
Women would sit in parliament and decide what men can an can not do with their bodies even in cases of sexual assault.
If guys could get pregnant abortions would not only be legal but they’d be free. There would be no debate whatsoever. But since we live in a patriarchy women don’t get to control their bodies like that unfortunately.
@daanzaan ya I’m all for abortion and I hate dumbass conservatives who call it “murder” but at 7 months I gotta be with them it’s murder at that point

I think you're probably right. I think the men who are most against abortion are the first who would be arguing in favour of it if men got pregnant
Yes, I think there still would be debate. There would still be people who have an issue with abortion for religious/moral reasons.
However, I do think things would be very different if men experienced the fear, stress, and pain that comes with pregnancy.
There’s already abortion as “standard procedure”, much more than even that, “standard procedure” is including full term abortion, right up to delivery.
It’s not easy for men to judge women, especially on this issue. It’s practically impossible, and therefore an interesting hypothetical, but silly really, bc it will never happen.
It has to do with people's ability to actually imagine themselves in the other's place, empathy, nothing else. Most seem incapable of that and are quick to pass judgement, I do not support abortion past first trimester but I do support having that choice at least in the very beginning.
Don't know why women think men control everything with a fact this all the sexism is against men.
Like the man doesn't have a choice about paying child support even if it's not his kid he may be forced to pay it.

You don't even understand the answer the answer is no there won't be a debate because women control everything. You can see how sexist the world is against man by reading the link I posted
Ahh i see, product.
Your point is about services here.
But we dont see it as service or product. Just coz she undergoes pain doesn't give her preliveleged rights. Women's body is ready to undergo that kind of pain, to bring out a baby, that is how nature is.(secret is it would never be so hard childbirth if she is a healthy women, well thats none of my business how she has maintained her health and starts complaining/blaming later)
Nobody is sure how good a women is to take care of the child. Most women aren't even ready. And some mothers are more toxic than anyone.
But all these things won't go into your head coz you havnt seen the worst part.
And i dont know still how this is related to 'if men could get pregnent and starting abortion debate'.
It all has to do with empathy, it is easy to judge others if you will never really stand in their shoes, so this is a tiny attempt to motivate people to imagine things if tables were turned. (And a little clarification, childbirth is painful and it has nothing to do with how she takes care of her health, the homo sapiens woman's body is the worst adapted to giving birth - since our ancestors decided to stand on two feet our hips had to become more narrow while the brain (hence the size of the baby's head) gradually became bigger. And yes, since the biggest risks and responsibilities fall on the woman - she should be able to decide whether she want's to go through with it.
It is easy to judge if you never stand in their shoes...
Did you stand in mens shoes to see how & what they go through?
Big no. So first before you point at others, pls do point at self too...
And that is totally false. Women are ready for child since birth, their lifestyle changes them or makes them unhealthy, its her fault.
My grandmother gave birth to 10(no joke) and not a single time she went to hospital or needed pain killers. Why? She knew how to undergo it after first child...
She was healthy enough to bear 9 more, not that she didn't undergo pain, but it was not that horrible as you seem to show it.
I dont know who taught you that biggest risk and responsibilties fell on women.
If she wants to really decide that, tell her man at first. He will go with another women than a complainer.
And again its not her baby alone, it is equally a man's (fathers) baby too. So no way women can do all by her own. If she wasn't ready for motherhood, why have sex in the first place?
Was sex soo much important for that women, that she enjoys it at cost of babg and later starts blaming man and seeking such big rights?
If she is, such is totally ready to be unworthy mother👍..
(We are not considering here rape cases or forced cases, just ones who had sex & got pregnant by choice)
It would be a human right if men could get pregnant
All I can say is place yourself in the baby's place. Would you want to be aborted or have a chance at life. And think of this - you weren't aborted.
God, that is so callous. But that is girls today who use an abortion as birth control.
News flash, if you can't have responsible sex so that you don't get pregnant, then be celibate. If both the guy and girl use protection there should be no reason that you get pregnant. Because if one of the contraceptive devices fails, the other will take up the slack. If both of them fail you gotta stop using cheap Walmart "made in China" condoms.
Here I would like to respond with a reference to my myTake, point #2 In Defense of Pro-Choice ↗
I don't think abortion is a men against women issue at all. It's entirely a debate of when human life begins. Except for the crazies who say it's ok to let a baby born alive die... they're just killers by any standard.
Yeah, but for men it's way easier to deep women infant murderers regardless as it doesn't really apply to them, they are not the ones with theil lives and bodies at stake. I personally am only for abortion during the first trimester as I believe that is enough time to make that choice without actually causing anyone pain.
I just don't think it's amen against women issue. Some of the most zealous anti abortion people I've encountered are women.
Due to nature of men, who are typically more responsible and are biologically inclined to be more logical, men simply wouldn't skip using the pill, therefore it wouldn't affect abortion debate.
Men are actually more impulsive than women so...
True to what she said, it is the men who consider the pull-out method to be the right way to go about things, talk about responsible. And a vast majority of men surveyed about the male Pill that is in progress that they would not want to think about drinking it everyday and dealing with it's side effects.
Honestly dont imagine things.😂
First deal with the issue in hand...
right, because this whole thing has nothing to do with women freaking murdering babies for THEIR convenience. Let's just keep blaming men for everything. lol.
Why do you folks who try to create these stupid equivalency scenarios never understand that half the people against abortion are women?
I am aware of that, especially those religious nutjobs and women who had an abortion without truly thinking it through, regretting it later and deciding they should deprive other women of the opportunity to make that choice. The point in equivalency scenario is to try and imagine yourself in the shoes of another because most "pro-life" men only have strong opinions about it until it actually affects them personally in a negative way.
So you just made another wild assumption. Maybe come to reality.
Based on nothing.
More stupid assumptions.
The only way to respond to an ignorant statement.
Do you even know what the abortion scandal is about? Looks like you don't.
Of course there would, many women are pro-life and they do get pregnant, this idea is honestly just pathetic.
The "abortion debate" is literally just femoids refusing to take responsibility for their promiscuity.
There would, but most men would want an abortion. I mean how is the baby gonna get out? It’s gonna be very painful and messy.
I mean normal pregnancy would already be painful enough, but this would require C section or something far worse.
It just made me think of this:

Yes, it certainly does compare. Your vagina gets ripped apart if you 1: dont prep for it or 2: your kid is much larger than expected. A c-section is a surgery, natural birth is natural, meaning your body is built to accommodate it and continue going on afterward. Bodies aren't built for surgery. Of course, both processes are painful and require recovery, but a c-section does take more time to recover from.
No, but we have to live in reality.
I just wish people would keep their imaginary friends out of the debate
I think no, because from what I heard, it's the wife who's in favour in cases of alimony after divorce
There would, but to a lesser extent.
The issue would still be infanticide
Reported. I can see that dudes nipples
Guys would tough it out and have that baby
If its the same like circumcision not so much.
If men had babies they would only ever have 1
Yes, there would.
