Cards on the table, I am a Republican who does not care for - and did not vote for in 2016 - President Trump. Though I may vote for the President this time as while I do not care for Mr. Trump, the alternative of Mr. Biden is less appealing.
That all said, actually President Trump's support has been remarkably constant. Hovering around the 47% mark since he was elected and - unusually - not much impacted one way or the other. When the economy was booming, Mr. Trump was at 47%. When the pandemic and impeachment hit - about the same.
This in contrast to, for example, former President Reagan. At his low water mark, the 1982 recession when the rate of unemployment hit 10.8% - until this pandemic induced recession, the highest of the post WWII era - Reagan dropped to 34%. Then the economy began to boom and by 1986, President Reagan hit an eye watering 71% approval.
That is the norm and in that sense President Trump has defied gravity. Albeit at a level below majority support.
The reasons for such being that the country has entered a populist phase - not unlike the 1960s and 70s. This phase inspired in part because of the transition from a manufacturing/extractions base to a service/tech base. Thus even during the booming "pre-pandemic" economy, the lot of the lower middle blue collar (particularly white) class did not significantly improve.
To this was added a certain cultural condescension by the Democrats who were searching out the younger college educated vote. Thus President Obama's remark that the working class - to use that term - were "clinging to guns and religion." Thus Hillary Clinton's infamous "deplorables" and promising to put the miners out of business.
Suffice to say, the working class, which had seen itself as playing by the rules, working hard, going to church and being patriotic, did not cotton to being so dismissed and looked down upon. Their problems are real - declining lifespan, rising suicide, etc. - and being looked down on was deeply resented.
President Trump - for all his many, many failings - read this audience and appealed to it. His "in your face" and telling the politicians, i. e. "the swamp" and the "elites", what they can go do with themselves - to put it crudely - sings to the blue collar class that feels it was betrayed and abandoned. Thus they have stuck to President Trump through thick and thin, come what may, with very little deviation even now.
Of course this very same approach has capped the President's support - again at about 47% on average. The President's knack for pouring salt in the social wounds has made it hard for the college educated, women, among other groups, particularly those thriving in the new service/tech economy, to see any good in Mr. Trump. To these voters Trump is destructive, divisive and self-absorbed. (The latter of which he is and to some degree his own less justified personal sense of grievance allows him to psychologically understand the lower middle class - albeit the latter's grievances are far more justified in material terms at least.)
Reagan, to cite that example, was the opposite. His policies - in their day - were actually more controversial. However, after two decades of tumult in the 1960s and 70s', Reagan had a natural ability to calm the social waters and thus even his opponents came to like him in some ways.

I don’t consider him the greatest president ever. I general I don’t even like the guy, but I guess I can touch on a few issues...
Economy
Trump has consistently expanded the NASA budget which was severely crippled under the Obama/Biden administration. While Obama/Biden set America back on technological advancement, trump is moving us forward with new space goals and funding to back it. Trump has created the Space Force in that same goal. That should lead to more aerospace and defense engineering and manufacturing jobs and spur tourism to watch rocket launches.
Trump passed the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act several years back. That created Opportunity Zones which will spur growth all over the nation. This will drive job growth by incentivizing investment in America.
I like Trunp’s Strategy for American Leadership in Advanced Manufacturing. This policy will drive future intelligent manufacturing systems utilizing computer science and robotics to strengthen the domestic supply chain of medical products, food and agricultural products, electronics fabrication, and defense manufacturing. Bringing supply chains back to the USA which is great.
Tax cuts are generally good.
Trump renegotiated some bad trade policies.
The 2018 Farm Bill legalized the production of industrial hemp.
A lot of programs were put in place to help veterans.
Health Care
Obama Care is a nightmarish authoritarian plan crafted by greedy insurance companies and corrupt power hungry tyrannical politicians. It is unconstitutional at it’s very base and if allowed to stand would threaten the very fabric of our country. Imposing a mandate onto a passive individual compelling them into a commercial transaction with a private company merely for being alive and then non-uniformly taxing them if they do not abide by your tyrannical order is civil war worthy. We fought the British Empire over less. This act alone makes Obama one of the worst presidents in American history. Biden was not only part of crafting this hellish legislation and still openly approves of it, he wants to go further and build upon it. This is unacceptable. When Trump enter office he immediately removed the individual mandate from Obama Care via an executive order which is great, but not permanent. If Biden were to be elected, this could be easily reversed which would be horrifyingly bad. Now that Trump has appointed more conservative judges to the Supreme Court, I am hopeful that Obama Care will be overturned in the near future. Trump has adamantly stated that he wants to eliminate Obama Care all together and craft new legislation to regulate health care. He has also openly stated that he wants to included verbiage in that legislation that will protect people with preexisting conditions from corporate refusal for coverage. While there is no detailed plan on what that legislation may look like yet, in my opinion it is far more important that we resolve the overstep by the Obama administration first, not for health care but for legal precedent. We need to kill Obama Care, burn down it’s house, and piss on the ashes first. From there we can negotiate a new way forward and protecting people with preexisting conditions is a good first step.
Environment
I like the EQIP act in the 2018 farm bill. The Great American Outdoors Act is pretty good. I like that he stopped offshore oil drilling around Florida. I’m not a fan when it comes to his position on solar. I don’t have an issue with using oil and natural gas, but it would be nice to see more renewable incentives especially solar.
I supported Donald Trump since he announced his first campaign for president back in 2015 for 2016. I was loud and proud to be a woman who supported him. His beautiful family which is married to immigrants and people of other races/religions than himself. I thought his platform for a stronger economy, helping with legalization of illegal immigrants and deporting the criminals who have taken advantage of the united states of america without going through the legal channels that so many have to pay and go through was an amazing idea. The wall is a big idea and also not a lot of socialists understand that 99% of the drugs in the USA are being shipped in from the mexican border, the mexican government knows it and does little to nothing because the mafia down there pays them to walk away. So having Mexico pay for the wall after millions have died from the overdoses each year here might not be such an outrageous idea. The things that President Trump says are no different than the tv talk shows and reality shows 99% of all of us watch and or listen to. Don't know why so many get up in arms over it. If he never became president everyone would still be partying with him and his family in the Hamptons, staying in his hotels, laughing at his humor, etc. No one pointed the finger at Hugh Hefner and all the scandals he had. But when someone runs for public office all of a sudden people and stories just magically appear. Socialism = Communism so if you would like to live like that please give it a go in Russia for a year or two. See how they treat you in the factories and check out what happens when you speak up against their leader.
Nobody who hated Trump started loving him. The people who liked him 4 years ago mostly still like him now. It's an asshole bond or some shit like that.

(if you want every single date and time of what Trump did to prevent Covid deaths in America, let me know ill send it.) (when I reference "he" I'm speaking about Donald Trump in this post.)
He's taken troops out of countries that we do not belong in (which is saving thousands of soldiers out of danger and harm), Brought in by an excuse war for oil money and or Petro Dollar by a certain greedy Bush and Silverstein.
He's called out and exposed The Clintons and the Biden Family non stop on their involvements in very sick and twisted and corrupt activities.
He's called out the Mainstream manipulative media for running falsified narratives and propaganda.
He's called out Corrupt Democratic politicians and those that run their cities wrongly with high corruption rates, He has constantly offered Funding and help for those cities after the damages of Riots that happened in the majority of such corrupt cities, and those politicians ignored him and denied his help. (Read the 10th Amendment)
He has taken us out of the Paris climate accord (which by the way costs tax payers $495 billion a year, for a 12 year contract that a certain Hawaii resident placed us into) for useless "climate combating programs" that use toxic metal waste to combat Ozone and atmospheric temperatures.
He is the most hated president and yet he still carries on, he hasn't quit has he? he hasn't made a dime since he's been in office, he is the only president to have had his net worth lower. He can have anything he wants in life, yet he ran for president (the Left mocked him and laughed and promoted hate against him) and yet he won, he won and he has made more efforts in fixing this great country than Obama did in 2 terms.
He's the only president in the United States with the Highest Funding to Stop Human Trafficking/Human traffickers at a whopping $435 Million.
The first 18 months of the Trump presidency saw a 743 percent increase in arrests of traffickers over the first two years of Barack Obama’s first term.
Under Trump’s helm, 9,200 individuals were arrested on suspicion of human trafficking in 18 months.
Under Obama, 1,238 were arrested for trafficking during his first two years. During eight years in office, Obama’s administration made only 42 more arrests for human trafficking than Trump’s administration made in his first 18 months! How many precious lives were saved by those 9,200 arrests?
I want to write more but it's limiting my words now, If anyone wants to have a civilized and respectful Conversation without using obscenities, then go right ahead and let's talk about our Agreements or our disagreements.
(I'm not responding to anyone being immature and hateful.)I support Trump because he's getting done, most of what he said he would do. No President can ever keep all their campaign promises, but Trump has followed up on many of the ones that conservatives consider important. Things like securing our southern border, backing the military, lowering taxes, reducing crime, improving the economy, appointing Constitutionalist judges, putting America and Americans 1st when it comes to trade deals. The guy has followed through on all those issues.
He's tried several times to remove Obamacare (the ACA), but usually 1-2 votes have prevented that from happening. I personally don't want "Universal Healthcare", but Obamacare never was about health OR care. The lies of the left saying 20 million will lose their health insurance is BS. Most of those that have an Obamacare policy are paying out their rears and getting little for that money. What Biden is offering is even worse!
Trump is NOT the polished speaker like Ronald Reagan. This is probably Trump's major downfall. He can be very abrasive in his comments. With him, you need to pay more attention to what he means, more so than what he specifically says. He's getting better than he was, but the media absolutely REFUSES to give Trump ANY credit for the things he's accomplished. They focus totally on how to present his accomplishments in as negative a way as possible.- https://www.youtube.com/embed/u3vsVSZFWLEhttps://www.youtube.com/embed/INiw_P1ZiJo

leftist are evil. just want yellow flesh, tim cast, hero hei, and others,
i hate this world i live in 1. Because he appeals to ordinary people. That in and of itself is a controversial statement but he does, like most people in politics.
2. He is unscripted. Unlike other candidates, who have everything written up for them, Trump speaks his mind.
3. He makes several talking points which resonate with a large portion of the general public. Mostly how other politicans are bought and how the media insults the people's inteligence by telling them what to think.
I think that's in general what propells him in the eyes of the American public.
I don't wish to speak too much about it tho, because it generates very little positive discourse, but I personally appreciated the shift in perspective and seeing as how a politician can be so controversial is a sign that some things are not quite right and THAT generates discourse. I like that. I also despise the ridiculous statements about trump being a literal nazi, it's one of the most insulting tactics to make others afriad to think. You can criticize a man without reduction to the absurd.for me it began in highschool 15 years ago when i noticed how fucking sensitive the administrators were. too many things you couldn't say too many wimpy policies they implemented to spare people's feelings. I realized that i hated them for that. that i hated diversity because it strangled the chance to express one's self and say w/e you wanted. too many types of people and someone is guaranteed to be offended no matter what.
that led to a resounding hatred of globalism all while watching jon stewart accidentally advertise trump on his daily show (he still probably has no idea how helpful he was to getting trump elected) jon stewart would make fun of trump and his america first speech meanwhile half of his audience was gong "wait a minute this guy is making a lot of sense".
Trump correctly pointed out that globalism wasn't useful anymore. he doesn't understand why in the same way i do but he speaks bluntly and doesn't care who he offends and that's how america should be. one people, one nation, one cultureI think a lot of it is a question of "compared to WHAT?" My take is that the last time the electorate was tired of the establishment. Trump was anti-establishment. They didn't want the Republican party spoonfeeding them another dude with the last name "Bush" so they went for Trump in the primary. Then the Dems RIGGED their primary to ensure that the establishment candidate (Clinton) triumphed over the anti-establishment guy (Bernie). So in the general, enough people went for Trump--particularly in swing states--so he won.
Let's see where we're at today. Trump's got a TON of issues for sure. But I'm not sure the Dems learned a lot from the last time. Biden has been around for almost FIFTY YEARS in politics. Doesn't get much more establishment than that. Also, he's quite clearly suffering from mental decline but we're all supposed to pretend that isn't the case. A lot of people don't like that. The whole "woke" thing--while super interesting to a TINY number of NOISY people tends to put off a LOT of folks.
So I could really see anything happening next week. We won't know till we get there, but it neither outcome would surprise me.I think it’s because he gets results, and at least TRIES to do what he says he’s going to do.
Also I think the constant lies about him from the mainstream media and the left have something to do with it. They are so desperate to discredit him, yet they constantly fail.
People don’t like being manipulated and lied to, and that’s all the people get.
The democrats are showing themselves to be liars and panderers.
He’s trying to look out for the people while the other sides lets their cities burn.
No one likes being called a racist or a fascist, and that’s something the left does constantly.
Theses things push people a certain way.
I hav to add that I am Canadian, and this is an outsiders point of view.Back in 2016 I was all about Bernie Sanders. I hated Trump. I was a rabid bleeding heart liberal. I believed anyone who was on the right was a morally corrupt scumbag.
Now I know I was wrong. And liberals really area hive mind. I was a part of it. I was even a rabid liberal on this very site and half the conservative people blocked me on here lol. So don’t try to tell me I wasn’t some fucking ignorant liberal asshole like the rest of them because I was.
So now when it comes to Trump I choose to believe that he’s doing the best he can. He’s a good dude and cares a lot about the country and he does the best he can do. Fuck whatever the liberals say. I used to be one of y’all. Y’all are full of fucking shit man. I know because I used to be that. The proof is somewhere deep in my profile from years ago being a stupid rabid liberal hating conservatives because I was brainwashed my whole life to believe they were evil.https://www.google.com/amp/s/decider.com/2019/02/12/hillbilly-documentary/amp/
Check out this link. It’s a documentary about why a lot of rural people voted for Trump. It changed my perspective of “rednecks”. Most of them voted for Trump because he gave them financial “hope”. They felt that he’d give more support to farmers and rural workers. It’s an enlightening documentary. I used to judge Trump supports harshly but now I’m seeing there’s a story that isn’t being given as much exposure as the main narrative that his supporters are racist and aggressive. His monetary policies have been extremely effective. It allowed our economy to grow dramatically. Regulations and disincentives for corporations was a terrible route after the Great Recession. I could go into many other reasons, but I like that he’s not a politician. What you see is what you get. He doesn’t accept many donations. He doesn’t play by Washington’s rules. He calls bullshit out when he sees it. He’s clearing out the swamp. They’re attacking him, but he’s a fighter and I genuinely believe he loves our country and is fighting for us. I don’t love his personality, but I do love what’s he’s doing.
Well people have said that Biden suffers from dementia and is too old. And during the riots Trump was against it and said when the looting starts the shooting starts.
Let's face it nobody wants their homes to get attacked or looted. And despite what some people might say we still depend on the police for our protection.
Hell I've seen several videos where protestors asked for the police to be present while they were protesting to defund the police. Which is just so ridiculous and funny at the same time.
I think it's these reasons why people support Trump. The people that vote for him might not even be republican.
I know a friend that's going to be voting for Trump just because he's against all the rioting and violence that have occured. And he's neither republican or democrat.I will be 100 % honest I hate Trump. , He is a liar. A cheater a thief and he has a big fat mouth I don't like any thing about him at all now in saying all of that ,,, I didn't Vote for him because I see who he really is ,,, now being honest,,, if you look back at all the things he has gone through. Because of the democrats. And all the rumors of what the Democrats have done to make trump look bad he can do that on his own ,, BUT if any of it is true any of it then the Democrated party is fucking evil to do what they have done to this country they all need to be fired if any of it is true with no pay no retirerment. no nothing. And if one thing is true that they have done no way in hell do I want them RUNNING this country I voted for trump ,,, maybe he will turn 6 this year and really do something good not for just the rich OR his Ego
Probably because for all his twitter Edgelording and rhetoric and controversial statements, he's actually done a pretty good job getting things done as president. A sitting president running for a second term is judged more on his track record of achievements as president so far. When he ran in 2016 he was a newcomer to the political stage, so he was judged by a different yardstick. Presidents get elected first time on their rhetoric and their promises. Presidents get elected the second time for their results.
We'll that's a good question that I believe has a few different answers. Some people are just going to vote for the candidate of a particular party. After the end of President Obama's tenure was completed the rascist attacks had slowly taken a place in the minds of a lot of unsuspecting people who had never seen themselves in this light. Just got caught up in the rhetoric. Then there are others who listened to Trump talking about the alleged plans he had for the country and didn't get beyond the message and the man, had they actually vetted him the picture would have been fully developed and gone to the core of his history and not just a superficial snap shot.
1. Trumps who they want to be.
2. He's on the side of logic 75% kf the time even though he is a crook. But he a crook a high level that it doesn't affect them or it affects the other side.
3. Tribalism. They hate feminism SJW etc so they can't be on the opposite side of that.
4. policys. some people don't like the health care plan as well as the financial plan or personal security Of democrats.
5. they racist
My personal reason. Why waste a vote on a bigot democrat that's going to out gays and illgeals before my community. Biden isn't the lesser of 2 evils. He has ties to kkk just like trump. Trump at least offered scraps compared to nothing at all for a dedicated vote for 70 yearThe corrupt establishment has forced Trump to happen. They brought this on themselves, and despite their incredibly costly never-ending smear campaign people are waking up to the truth. The establishment isn't after Trump, it is after us and our freedom, Trump is merely in the way. Fuck every single low information voting TDS loser who can't be bothered to find the truth. If you dont time to research politics on a regular basis then don't vote and don't scream opinions you adopted from the herd at other people
He shows strong leadership. Most people in this country are uneducated and he’s smart. He knows what the type of leader the American people want and isn’t afraid to show it to the public. By showing aggression, he asserts dominance over Biden. That’s what idiots look for. On the other hand Biden and the Democrats are idiots too. The guy plays passive throughout the entirety of his campaign. Mans having trouble formulating a sentence mid debate. In conclusion this country is fucked regardless of who you vote for. and Americans should learn to accept that instead of attempting to “unite” the country every post election. Because it’s just not going to work. It’s like people saying they want to end racism. As long as blacks and whites exist, there will be no end.
I’m not American, but Trump will always have my support until his Democrat opponent has the balls to condemn and plan to annihilate the radical Left who are burning their formerly admired country to the ground, and would do so even more if Biden wins and has their support 🇺🇸
Cause trump supporters are 90% followers. BLIND followers. Trump is like Greece's lead problem. They follow the idea so blindly that they don't realize its too damn late. LOL.
(For those who don't know the bath houses and pots were all plated WITH LEAD!!! Yet we still treat the Greeks as though they are the smartest in human history, they maybe are smart math and science wise. But health wise they are about as smart as a snail.)
