Yes celebrated by Germanic pagans who added part of their ethnic culture to Christmas when they converted to Christianity ie Christmas trees which wasn't even a thing in the anglosphere until Prince Albert introduced it into the British royal family in the later half of the 19th century. You find this is the case in most Christian countries where the people adapted Christianity to suit their culture and environment. A good example is the Day of the Dead in Hispanic countries which is separate but similar to the Catholic Halloween.
@israelisevil Its much the same when people criticise and point out the depiction of Jesus as being white pointing out that he was middle Eastern or black which is all ignorant bullshit when Jesus was a semitic Hebrew male who would have looked very similar to the native Hebrew people who still live in the holy land and follow the old testament the samartians. The samartians have lived in the region since they left Egypt with moses and Israel was split between the northern Kingdom of Israel (Samartians) and the Southern Kingdom of Judea (Jews) after the reign of King Solomon. The Samartians do not marry outside of their own people. DNA tests with samartians, Jews and hebrew tombs show that modern Jews are closer to the ancient hebrews than arabs are Palestinians in the area. a samartian woman.
samartian men
Also if you look globally around the world at depictions of Jesus you find that depending on the region his appearance changes so in Somalia he appears black, in India he appears indian, in China he appears Chinese, in Mexico he appears Mexican, to the native Americans he appears native American, in germanic and Scandinavian countries he appears white, in North Africa he appears nort African, in southern Europe he appears Mediterranean etc. Jesus's race didn't matter, what mattered in depictions was that he was God's son sent to earth.
In short, it's a pagan holiday hijacked by the christians so they can feel important.
yes and no... it was a solstice, so mostly every culture celebrate something about it, when christianity took over, they could not just come and say you gonna change your celebrations, so absorbed many aspect of it, and add some christian significance on it, the phenomenon is called religious syncretism. that was not at all new, that happened across history a lot. you can see it in the funeral rites celebrated in alexandria, that combined egyptian with greek elements. Christmas for the Romans was saturnalia, don't remember the germanic name thou one... but if you check all mayoor christians celebrations tend to fall in solstices and equinoxes (not now cause calendar, but a day or 2 of difference), the reason is that Pagan cultures were in essence agricultural, there cosmovisión was cyclical in escence, and they use solstices and equinoxes as milestones that marked the seasons , in this way the knew if winter was about to begin or end, and how they were doing with the farming and survival chances in essence. they became so important that acquire religious significance per se. and develop many ways to measure them that goes from monoliths, stone circles, in other cultures pyramids, etc... , and the measuring artifacts, become at the same time sacred. the idea of the Christmas tree is to make an offer in food which was originally over the tree, (to nature) so they will not starve the winter, have good hunt, etc... , so when the christianity was taken as the main religion of the vast Roman empire at the time that happened (for political reasons), they could not go tho the germanics and say, stop with it... cause romans had a large tradition of adopting forners god being the only Roman god in essence Juno (the 2 faced god), they absorb the traditions in to christianity, with the years traditions were understood more as christians than pagans. so the answer is yes and no. pagan in origin but absorbed as christians.
The native hebrews while white have facial structure similar to arabs and due to this many of the orginal jews of palestine have been killed either by muslims thinking they support israel or israel thinking there muslims. My cousins great grandfather was a jew in palestine and was forced to leave by creation of israel because they took over jewish communities and flooded them with white jews of Europe to make an ethnostate
Jesus had white skin and an arab facial structure much like jews of palestine did before brittain made it european jew only.
Israel destroyed the native hebrew jewish communities that once prosperred there along with muslims fleeing jordan and egypt.
@israelisevil none of what you said is true. Archological skull evidence, dna testing and comparison of modern Jews with the samartians tell a diffrent story.
The non ashkenazi jews were kicked out with christains and muslims alike who got kicked out of palestine so that european jews could take over. Israeli politicians have asked for beheadings while hezbollah and hamas unfortunately say beheadings are unethical i wish they would. Also there's a un case every year about israel gassing hospitals with white phosphorus but obama originally and trump too despite saying he wouldn't bomb assads bombed assad's white phosphorus gas he used to gas isis. To america its ok gas innocent palestinians with gas but gassing isis is unethical. Also jews havnt been there 2000 years the people took it from people who took it from israelites long gone so stealing land in settlements. there's no changing your mind you support jews launching crussade on holy land and cause holocaust happened its ok for them to gas others i guess how you see it. Bothe you sound stupid talking about bone structure and where they came from thats over 2000 years ago right now they are stealing land of arabs. I agree with you fuck israel but bothe of you should do more reasearch
If you're a Christian, you're never alone. God is always there. And if Jesus wasn't born, he wouldn't have given his life for us. That's why we celebrate.
@dandee55 technically I am not Christian or religious at all, although I was raised Christian and sent to church on Sundays even though my mother is Atheist, also like I said once at church in front of everyone " if you think about it Jesus did not die for our sins, he gave up his weekend."
With that being said I guess that means I really will be alone again this year.
