Just thought I'd write a little myTake about why us girls prefer tall guys. I'm short myself at 4'10 and yes it makes me a hypocrite but I like the majority of girls am only attracted to guys that are 6ft+. Here are some reasons why tall guys are just the best.

1. Tall Guys look so masculine

This big reason I think us girls experience romantic attraction towards tall guys. Tall guys just look more male. You shouldn't be surprised to see a short girl meet a tall guy and after he has gone, she tells her girlfriends “Oh, he is handsome and looks so manly” and they all giggle about it. I guess in a girl's eyes a guy’s height reflects his manliness. It’s perfectly the norm for a woman to assume a tall guy is masculine, it’s probably an evolutionary thing, we girls instinctively want to have a man who can protect and shelter his family.

2. Being with a Tall Guy make us feel safe.

We see tall guys as protectors and feel super safe being with them. We girls just assume that in case of bad weather or danger, a tall guy will simply wrap his big arms around us to keep us safe. They look like warriors and their stature is often enough to discourage attack or insult, like no guy has ever harassed me with my tall man but my old boyfriend who was short this was the opposite. Women find solace in their men’s arms and feel comfortable in times of distress. They feel like they are safe from whatever is happening around them when they are in their ‘small room’ which hosts only them, and a tall guy has a larger room of course. With that thinking, you shouldn't be surprised to see women go for the taller guys.

3. They can reach things we cannot

This sounds hilarious, but as a short girl I can tell you it ain't a joke. A little lady like me standing on my tippy toes trying to reach something on top of a Walmart shelf I might decide to fetch a chair or a ladder or climb to resolve this dilemma. Most short ladies would rather date a tall guy than buy a ladder lol. With my tall guy I often purposely get him unnecessarly to reach for something that's too high for me just because. Its romantic and this is one of the reasons why tall men are attractive to us. Tall guys can reach higher places, and they can help us short girls reach top places too by lifting us up, this is a real turn on for us girls. Which girl wouldn’t want to be lifted up while on the beach or in a swimming pool?

4. Tall Guys make us girls feel more feminine and petite.

Girls want to feel like girls when we are with a man. When we are shorter than our man, we feels that the height difference highlights both of their sexes, and the bigger the difference the better. So a girl would prefer to date a tall guy who makes her feel feminine and a bit petite, thus making her more confident. It’s the responsibility of a man to make his woman feel appreciated and boost our confidence, and so it’s not just his height that can make her feel energized. A good guy always compliments his girl, including tall guys. Nevertheless, women want to feel girly, and we get this satisfaction when we date tall guys.

6. Wanting taller guys is hardwired into women's DNA.

It’s genetically dictated in us women that taller men are more attractive than shorter ones. You wonder how? Well, it’s just the same way men get attracted to women with wider hips, prettier eyes, younger bodies and bigger boobs. This is because their minds are genetically wired in a way that makes their emotions ignite when they notice these features in the opposite sex, and it has been like that for ages. Our ancestors preferred taller men because they believed that they were more protective and had the ability to provide for the family, unlike shorter guys who were considered powerless and unable to support a family. This is the way we have evolved, and the gene is still in modern women. You can’t blame us girls for preferring the taller guys: after all, our ancestors did too.

7. Tall Guys appear more powerful

We women are attracted to power, and when a girl looks at a guy and notices he is tall, our biology automatically assumes he can carry the world on his shoulders. Thoughts like that build in our mind, and she imagines he holds more authority than an average or short guy. Not many guys understand this feeling in us girls, and therefore it’s important to explain it. When a guy holds a powerful position in a firm or society and acts as a commanding figure, he looks more attractive. We women have always had trouble being able to resist powerful men, and therefore, men who are established and are powerful tend to draw more attention. One of the features that lift men up the ranks is their confidence, and you already know most confident men are tall. Tall men are authoritative than average guys and that turns us on.

8. Tall guys usually have it proportionate to their height downstairs.

9. Being with a tall guy is like having a personal bodyguard.

As a short girl being with a tall guy I feel so protected. He acts like my bodyguard who keeping me safe. If he is tall and well-built, he's a keeper. Taller men are naturally intimidating, and since women want to feel safe and protected, we go for them. A girl imagines having the guy with her all the time and keeping her away from the nasty glances of other men and stalkers. Women love attention, but when she gets that one man and falls for him, she desires to have his attention only. This doesn’t mean that short guys can't be protective but when a tall guy approaches someone, his height itself can scare off his target a little and women feel like tall guys can back them up.

It's perfectly true that it's natural in a sense and that girls do prefer men with height. However, setting the bar up there with men like Hafthór Julius Björnsson is just unfair and unrealistic XD Men of his stature make up 2-3% of the male population. And some of the men in the pics aren't *tall*, they're giants. I really don't think a petite girl can take all that in, if you know what I mean. It honestly makes no difference to me, but I think it does to guys. I'm 5'9" and a bit over 6 feet tall in my high heels, and pretty much every guy I've ever dated has been at least 6'1". The shortest guy I've dated was about 5'6", the tallest was 6'8", and it was not an issue for me either way. The reason why height is an issue for guys is because its such a monumental issue for women (as this take points out). It took me years to work out why short guys were defensive etc I could never figure out why so many were ass holes, they were out to prove shit all the damned time. It never seemed relevant to me I've always known strength is related to muscle mass and bone density. Densely built stalky men are the strongest men on earth be they short or tall, they're built like tractors nothing but power. Yet women fawn over men who are simply tall.

I am very tall and often find myself helping random people in public because of it. I will be in a store a some random person will come up and ask if I can grab a product on the upper shelf and so on. It feels nice to be a help but is annoying sometimes.

Just some disadvantages of being tall, from experience.
1. Never feel comfortable in a car seat ( especially if you like classic cars like me)
2. Flying on airplanes is a nightmare. ( hopefully you can get an emergency exit seat, more room).
3. You can’t clothes or shoe shop in “normal” stores. Nothing fits.
4. Tables counters and bars are always too short for you.
5. Your feet alway hang off the end of the bed.
6. Many Girls act intimidated by you and are afraid to talk to you.

The problem is that there are short guys who have great qualities. Of course height is important but it isn’t everything.

I’m 6 ft tall and if some girl wants a taller guy then she isn’t for me either.

Of course these are preferences and each person is free to want what they like and try to achieve it if possible.

As far as this stereotypical debate of "if height matters", I disagree with numbers 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 For number 3, get yourself a ladder. Number 7 is somewhat a misconception. And quite frankly, there are some women like men about the same height as them.

As 6'7 guy, I can absolutely confirm everything you've said in this post. Every one of my girlfriends were below 5'7, and every single one of them said to me that they love my height because they feel safe and secure with me.

Some of my female friends had told me the same thing, and also said that I "give the best hugs" due to my height :)
