In 1978, I was 23 years old and had a brief relationship with a lady who was 46 years old (yes; twice my age.) It was brief and not particularly satisfying. In 1980, I was 25 and had a relationship with a woman who was 37 years old. It was much more satisfying and much more fun. Ultimately, it ended because she had unresolved feelings for a previous partner, but I had fun while it lasted. I never felt uneasy being with either of these older women and I know that I learned from both of them. In 2018, I dated a woman who was 81 years old and another woman who was 78. I was not trying to date older women but I met both of them at the same event and liked both of them.  At the opposite end of the spectrum, in 2008, I dated a girl who was 16 years younger than me. We did not work as a couple but it was not because of her age. How do you feel about dating someone older than you? Does the idea disgust you? Not appeal to you? Don't care? Done that and it wasn't a big deal?

When I was younger, my grandma told me, "It's better to be an older man's sweetheart than a younger man's fool." Of course the implication is that an older man is likely more ready to have a committed, long term relationship than a younger guy. I have always dated a few years older than my own age, with one exception. Most recently I dated someone 16 years older.
I'm fine with a difference in age and actually prefer a man who is a little older than I am.

I tried once 12 years older partner. We worked together in nightclubs behind the bar. She was funny and we flirted a lot with each other, this was obvious and so demonstrative that people didn't think that something runs between us. Private she was different, very sensual and smart, she cared about my broken ego that I had in this time. Sex with her was more mature, she said what she wants and her sexuality was entirely different to my former partner. However it was never more than an adventure, because for us both was clear that social acceptance of such relationship will be low and she has a kid and such partner was not acceptable for me as 20yo. boy. It is more than common for women to date up to 10 years older 'till about forty, then up to 20 years. Men mature much slower, and age much better than women. So it's just a natural.
