In 1978, I was 23 years old and had a brief relationship with a lady who was 46 years old (yes; twice my age.) It was brief and not particularly satisfying. In 1980, I was 25 and had a relationship with a woman who was 37 years old. It was much more satisfying and much more fun. Ultimately, it ended because she had unresolved feelings for a previous partner, but I had fun while it lasted. I never felt uneasy being with either of these older women and I know that I learned from both of them.

In 2018, I dated a woman who was 81 years old and another woman who was 78. I was not trying to date older women but I met both of them at the same event and liked both of them.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, in 2008, I dated a girl who was 16 years younger than me. We did not work as a couple but it was not because of her age.

How do you feel about dating someone older than you? Does the idea disgust you? Not appeal to you? Don't care? Done that and it wasn't a big deal?

When I was younger, my grandma told me, "It's better to be an older man's sweetheart than a younger man's fool." Of course the implication is that an older man is likely more ready to have a committed, long term relationship than a younger guy. I have always dated a few years older than my own age, with one exception. Most recently I dated someone 16 years older.
I'm fine with a difference in age and actually prefer a man who is a little older than I am.

The older women I dated in 2017-2018? Both were very comfortable financially. The 81 year old is from Brazil, widowed, and she travels frequently. She wants a travelling companion and I am still working so that didn't work. The 78 year old is from Germany, now a US citizen, and a widow. She and her husband established a plastics fabrication plant and sold it for a very good profit. But she was still mourning her husband (he died 10 years ago, so this isn't going to change.)

Both ended amicably.

I tried once 12 years older partner. We worked together in nightclubs behind the bar. She was funny and we flirted a lot with each other, this was obvious and so demonstrative that people didn't think that something runs between us.
