I have one of those moms, so I completely understand. Our relationship is going pretty well lately, because we live in separate cities now and don't see each other regularly. I'm usually able to have pleasant conversations with her on the phone these days.

But things were much worse when I was forced to be in her presence often. She tore down everything I was happy about and made me feel like everything I did and even all of my personality traits were wrong.

So trust me, space is your answer. And a bit of secrecy also.

My mom was so controlling that she would make my sister and I wear leggings under our pants and thermals under our sweaters and coats etc to keep warm even well into spring when it wasn’t even cold out. Just to show control over us.
