How soon after meeting a girl does a guy know if she is girlfriend material?

Is it after the first date, the second? Or is there some random moment when you are with her, something she says maybe, that makes you realize you'd like her to be your girlfriend..? I'm talking beyond looks, because if you've asked her out, you're obviously attracted to her. What is it about that girl that clicks for you, and when do you often realize it?

So you want too know at what stage do guys know for sure that a girl is material for a serious relationship, I don't think you can generalize that question for every guy, for we all have a different thought and view about it, most guys I think have no idea or just want a girlfriend for entire different reasons.

I can be more specific and go into the details in my relationship.

I asked my girlfriend to go steady after courting her like 2 months, I put myself out at her feet and she took me in hehehe. How did I know? I didn't I just took a chance a gamble and so did she, because we liked each others company a lot.

After some years into our relationship I asked her why she said yes, me being a big geek and all, she said it's the way I treated my sisters as a brother that hinted her that I was a good guy.

My point is that a guy will take a chance on any girl when he enjoys her company a lot, but it is for the girl to decide if that guy is worthy of her, just try to read between the little hints on the guys personality and personal life, that's what I learned from my relationship. Now I've been 13 years with my girl and married her.

I've never had a girlfriend. Been on a date once and just because she asked me, and it was more of a co-worker thing. But I'll tell you this much - it's on the first date. The second, at max. I am not picky, but I am looking for someone who is nerdy like I am. I know plenty of girls like that exist - just none of them live in my area.

Thing is, I'm not one to ask a girl out just because she's pretty. First I must know if she's into the nerdy things I like to do, and THEN I take her looks into consideration. Only then will I ask her out.

Unless she has some serious personality issues, I don't see how it wouldn't work out.

Girlfriend material to me is a girl that has a strong personality, is not following a click all the time and has her own ideas and opinions. A girl that is respectful. I can't stand rude, immature or childish women. A girl who is loyal. I believe loyalty stems from your own self respect and the opinion you carry of yourself.

well a guy can usually tell pretty soon if a girl is NOT girlfriend material after getting to know her , but to know if she is girlfriend material...theres really no set course of schedule time to figure that out, usually happens at random times for guys, usually after a little back and forth exchange and then suddenly a dude just has an epiphany like ohhh, I need her in my life
