My parents were planning a trip to their home country during summer, but I really just don't want to go. I did go once when I was younger, but its not really a place I want to go back to. This trip would also mean that I miss the first week of school which I don't want to miss. My parents think I'm overreacting, but I want to use the first week as an opportunity to make friends because I don't really have any. They also say they can't change the return because it will be more expensive.
Yesterday, I tried talking to my dad about the whole thing and he just ended up getting really mad at me. Today I talked to my mom but she just got upset as well. Both were like "fine we'll just cancel it and lose money" which seems contradicting because couldn't they just change the return date then instead of wasting all the money? Another thing is they're both talking as if I need to go there, but I don't and I'm not interested either. My brother isn't going because of school and they aren't even forcing him to go.
Anyways, now both my parents are upset at me and acting like I've ruined everything... even though they've both visited many times in the past years. :/
