In my mind, I am a nice person and I care about others. I like trying to make new friends but lately it hasn't really been working out for me. It seems like so many people are such surface level people and don't really care about forming friendships with others. Does anyone experience similar struggles in making new friends?
By the way, if you like fitness, outdoors and outdoor recreation, and animals, I'd love to be your friend and have that be a jump start to maybe an awesome friendship!
There are way more factors to making friends beyond being nice and caring about people. Probably the most important thing is something called “approachability”. It’s a doozie because your brain might be saying, “Come be my friend!” while your body is suggesting, “I’ll kill you if you come any closer!”. No joke. Think of someone you love who has RBF. Body language is important, very important.
Another important factor is your willingness and ability to approach others. If you’re waiting for people to come to you, you’re kind of shooting yourself in the foot. When you see someone interesting to you, you need to be willing to risk rejection and introduce yourself.
To increase your chances, join social groups that center around your real interests. I use “Meetup”. It’s a free app where you can start a group or join groups based upon your interests. So some of the ice breaking is done for you just by joining and attending events. But it still helps to be willing to introduce yourself and be mindful of your approachability.
I have the same problem. Nobody wants to be my friend either. Always been independent mainly because I got tired of being disappointed and stood up after making plans with someone. It helps if you hang out with people at events that have the same interests as you. I used to hang out at this place where people worked on different things, cars, engines, boats etc. Made a few friends, but after a while, I realized that most of those people were kind of shady. Anyways, the point is that it's very easy to strike up a conversation when there is a mutual interest involved and you both have similar knowledge. Make sense? It just comes more natural, but you still can't expect to make a friend overnight. You aren't going to be hanging out as buddies after only a couple conversations. These friends I made were because I kept stopping by chit chatting and not expecting anything else out of the situation.
You see the odd thing with me I attend to have friends who are much older then me. I really don't understand why it's hard for me to become friends with people from my age group or my same generation millenial. Honestly I really never fit it with the kids I went to school with. Even now as an adult when I see people my age it's hard for me to the point to even start a conversation other then asking where the bathroom is. That's it. Now that I think about it all of my friends are older then. I just never fit in with people my age. Mygrandmother even told me when I was 6 I remember I've been told by teachers and faily I was an old soul.
I would say the only reason 99.9% of people do not have friends who do not have friends is that they do not want friends. I hate publicity and if I want friends, I have to like people's posts on Facebook and comment on the status symbols and accept invitations to eat at coffee shops. All a waste of time and money and a risk to my privacy.

I was an introvert before but I think I have come out of my shell now 😊. Nowadays I started my business and am not shy to talk to people anymore and now I am looking to get in a relationship👫. But not good at keeping conversation going on face to face with girls but am good at chatting via insta🥲.
So at least 4 days back I got a message from a college girl 🫣🫠 complimenting me on my car being nice from my photos and I thought to start my journey here.
But I have no idea on how to take our insta chat to real life and even to start a relationship between us.

Unfortunately female group politics are about female status and power. Outwardly everyone is equal but the competition is hidden and not obvious. Excluding another female from the group is one of the main tactics.
A lot of women have made this same complaint to me.
Its easy to find people who want to be my friend but its hard to find people who I relate to enough to want to stay friends with.
I like animals but I'm not into fitness or outdoor recreation, my interest in animals carries over in pets, wildlife documentaries, wildlife cams, zoos, movies, books, video games, art, etc.
Also like sci-fi, fantasy, cartoons/anime, science, and technology.
You have to be able to adapt to each person individually as everyone is different. You have to show genuine interest and remember each friends stories, likes and dislikes. It takes a good memory to be a good friend. You also have to be there for them. These things hold people together.
Part of the problem seems to be that people are so busy with their lives they don't have time for new friends, so they don't bother trying. I suggest doing things you like and hopefully meet new people doing the same things.
I have found it hard to make friends. I still have the same friends since grade school. Thr problem is that a few have died and some have moved away. I really did try to make some new friends a couple of years ago. It was sort of embarassing.
I’m socially awkward. So making friends for me has always been hard. Some people don’t take my silly and weirdness cause their too “normal” to be my friends 😆
I'm a very friendly person and I find it very easy to make new friends, though it was very difficult when I was a teenager as I had no confidence back then.

To be honest with you, making friends as an adult is hard. People are busy with their lives, careers, families, etc.
A lot of people, Yours Truly among them, have trouble adjusting to new circumstances and people because of shyness.

Yeah there's a lot of shallow and sick people. You need to be careful. Sometimes the cute ones are the worst.
You are not a bad person. You need be outgoing person to make new friends.
