If you go alone to a bar how often have you experienced being approached and talked to or do people not do that anymore?

I was bored as heck and a bit lonely. So I got dress up and went to a local bar.

I was hoping to have a good time and perhaps some good conversation. The most I have gotten was a compliment... Apparently I smell very good 😊 lol. A man I sat by who was with a woman gave me the compliment.

I have to say I am enjoying my time. The wine is sweet

and the music is good but conversation would be nice.

I was hopeful when a hottie fellow came in with a group of friends and made eye contact... Oh yes I could tell he liked what he saw... But I then caught a glance at the ring on his left hand and I turned away.

So I'm curious? Am I being old school? Do people not approach each others in bars anymore?

Ahahaha it's a hard one for me. I went to a bar by my own and haven't been approached. Well, as a guy it is completely different. However, I have been looked and stared at so many times like...

"whats with this dude sitting over there alone and enjoying his time, sometimes with the phone...

The Bartenders and hot waitresses would smile to me so often. They'd come to my table and ask if everything was all good.

I said: "Well yeah honey mmmmmhhh, it's been a strange weekend for me. Friends been busy. You know? Enjoy life and don't be stuck home."

She was impressed by me and said:

"Damn son😻 you look like a man you can handle himself... think you can, handle meee?😏"

The guests who were close to my table would stare and were like: "What the... actual hell? Is going on?".

I said to her: "oh yea sure we can exchange numbers and rearrange a date :)"

By the way, it is not what I thought when she was like this and what she actually meant.

"Silly.. I wanna whisper to your ear come closer".

Guests being paying soo much attention to us... even the people walking outside noticed it

She bent over and I have seen her Boobs by accident👀

(Whispers): "I wanna smash you sooo hard man!"

I said: "You are my man!!!"

She responded: "WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK? I AM A MAN? DAMN SON!! GOODBYE"

And there I was... left the bar with empty pockets and went to home without a single lady.

So I have opened my laptop, made coffee and played Runescape. I was doing some Woodcutting then Pvp Pking to forget that horrible event.

Yes I have been approached a few times in the past 5-6 years while waiting to meet friends or colleagues, usually by women aged 22-25, who are too young or immature to date. It kind of surprised me how direct they were, I was really flattered to be approached by pretty/attractive girls, but I declined.

All the fucking time! Not just at the bar! I'll be walking down the street & have a friendly chat, at the store, in the park, everywhere! I just have one of those faces that says "I'll talk to you, just start the conversation". Mainly, though, it's the older crowd ( 55yo) because they don't care, but I also get conversations from people my own age 😂

I’ve been approached, and it was not pleasant. I do have a wedding ring on, and I think sometimes individuals get the wrong impression. I hope you had fun on your evening out, being flirted with and having it be pleasant definitely depends on the crowd that you are around.

If I spend my time sitting alone and not doing anything, chances are, SOMEONE will come over and talk to me, at least for a few minutes, and then peel off and go back to what they were doing or find someone else to talk to. No idea why they won't stick around and converse with me or invite me to do something with them. I'm easily accessible and I DON'T bite (unless, of course, you ask me!).

As a guy have had a girl approach me once or twice and I have had my fair share also. I find it less and less at bars you might have to find a new place or special event to have be more willing to go up to someone and start a conversation. I think a lot like covid and sexual harassment had got a lot why this doesn't happen anymore

i never was big into going to the bar to begin with but these last couple of decades i stopped completely except as a designated driver/sober ride and that group hasn't been around each other since 2008/09. last time i drank at a bar was 1999. i dont really even drink anymore though either. since 1999, have only drank maybe 4 or 5 times. there is also the i gave up on anything to do with dating as a factor too.

I never go alone but in college going to the bars and clubs I got approached a lot. I still go to the club on a few occasions with friends to have fun and dance and I'll get approached.
