Would it be weird if I asked him to grab coffee?

There's this really cute guy that lived on my floor in 1st year res. We didn't really talk that much, but he didn't really talk to anyone, since he was on the basketball team and didn't really have time to socialize. Although I think that I knew him better than most of the people on my floor...

Now we're in 3rd year, and I bump into him on a pretty regular basis on my way to and from class. He always says hi, and sometimes stops and talks to me for a bit. Although, when I've posted on his Facebook wall (I've only done it about 5 times over the past 2 or 3 years), he hasn't always answered.

He seems like such a sweet guy, and I was thinking of asking him to grab coffee the next time I see him... Would that be weird, considering I don't know him very well? I don't want it to be like a date or anything... I just think he's a cool person and would love to get to know him better, but I don't want to come off as over-eager, since I'm sure he must get a lot of attention from girls, seeing as he's a jock and all...

Listen the way I see life you don't ask you don't get. Next you're walking to class or bump into him, look at him with a lovely smile approach him give him a compliment about what his wearing or his hair etc..this gives him the impression that you have been taking notice of him.Tease him in a cheeky why..like I saw you play basketball the other day.. I think you need more practice. This will make him take more interest in you because he won't be expecting it he'll probable laugh it off..you could say I was just teasing..your actually really good. Once you laugh it off just turn around and say fancy going for a coffee. Try and go for the coffee there and then if you have time..if he does his interested in you.It will be unexpected but exciting..he won't see it coming and the unique thing is not many girls approach guys and ask them for an instant coffee date. This will make you stick out from the rest of the girls.

If his willing to hang around with you and give you chocolates to say thank you..I think he likes you and hasn't got the balls to ask you out. Funny enough I'm in a similar situation with a girl that I like..if you wouldn't mind looking at my question and see what you think.Sounds like we both in the same boat lol.x

This guy probablyhas a lot of women on the string, as they say, so I wouldn't feed his ego by asking him out. He'll take it as a green light, all the way, probably.j!

Yeah, the only thing is... He doesn't fit the stereotype. I remember in first year, I invited him to come and hang out in our room during exams. We sat and talked for a few hours, then made dinner together. Then, the next day, he came and brought chocolate covered almonds to say thanks for inviting him, 'cause he didn't really have any other friends in res and it was nice to have someone to hang out with.
