Do Guys Like Words Of Encouragement?

So there's this friend that I'm a bit close to. He told me that he had to give a speech and he was really nervous about it, because he thinks he'll do bad. Would it be weird to say "I know you can do it because you're amazing." Is saying you're amazing too cheesy and weird? Is saying that I know be can do it too pressuring?

If he's seeing himself as not a good speech giver then telling him the opposite can reinforce that image. Try asking what it is that bothers him so much about it. Another thing that works is get him to imagine the audience being naked or have him just focus on their foreheads if eye contact bothers him. By asking good questions he will resolve the issue on his own, or he may give himself a better image then you can encourage him when he's in a better frame of mind to reinforce the positive image.

We're just better at hiding our feelings and trying to be macho. When I'm depressed and people ask me if I'm fine, I always try to give the impression I'm doing okay but deep down, I want a niceeee looong hug. I think I can say the same for other guys
