Do you guys actually want to be fathers or just accept children as a consequence of having sex?

So guys do you actually ever want to have kid of your own or just accept them as a consequence of having sex? If so what age did you want kids?

I would have liked to have had children just never met someone I felt compatible with. As the elder brother to four younger sisters and uncle to nephews and nieces I have more experience feeding, changing etc than most fathers as it was just regarded as normal in my family to muck in and look after those younger than yourself.
I have resigned myself to not having any children of my own, when and if my nephews and nieces have children there'll be a Great-uncle ready to look after them and spoil them rotten.

Children as a consequence of having sex? Are you fucking kidding me? First I can use a condom or get my partner on the pill and have all the sex I want without ever being a father! Second, what man sees children as just a consequence?
Yes I want to be a father! It's one of my life dreams! I really want to be a father and I am going to be an amazing one!

What I think men want more is a son to carry on their name and their "legacy" so to speak. Guys who I've spoken who really were adamant about having children seemed to give off this vibe to me and frankly its disturbing. I dont give a f*** if I have someone to carry out some dumb name or legacy.

Fathers I’m told by majority develop connections after birth but mothers are geared before conception.( most sane and normotypic/ ie not in the dark personality triads)

I have two older daughters , this happened quite young by todays standards , and although I may have not been completely " over the moon " back then , I certainly am now. My daughters are 26 and 29 , and are both wonderful girls , one lives in Denmark and is working in graphic design , and one is completing a second degree in Queensland Australia , first degree being Science , Im very proud , I adored them as young girls and gave up ( most ) for them.
Hence sometimes what is to some degree forced on us , is beyond beneficial now , often I have thought OMG .. What if that never happened? So much would be missing from my life.

It's wonderful with shit, pee, puke and snot everywhere. Let us not forget the havoc kids bring with them! Best thing ever... Love it when they ruin the house and destroy everything in their path while playing. One of the best things though, that's when the baby screams during the night and wake you up 5 hours before you need to go up. Because who needs 8 hours sleep? Pfft just recommendations, 30-60 minutes is enough. You spare 10 bucks on an alarm clock.

Nope never in my entire life I'm going to get a child. If it happens, I hope I'm dead before the kid becomes a teenager.

I like the idea of being a dad when kids are older but not when there young
and like the idea of my legacy being passed on but not the resources (time and money) it takes.

it's a question of If I want kids with someone not a general yes or no and that depends on her and my income and time and how strong out relationship is based on mutual attraction though also logistics ie if we work close to each other both in stable jobs it will be more likely to last a long time and having a family would be easier.

I don't WANT kids but being an only child and male, I have to have at least one, preferably a boy. I realize I don't HAVE to continue the tradition of my last name but, to me, I feel it's important to. If my kid wants to end it, then so be it but I won't be that person!

Honestly I'd rather adopt than have kids of my own, but I would never view them as just some consequence of having sex. The true consequence of having sex is that someone has to deal with me during what I believe is probably a god awful experience
