Was he nervous or is there something weird?

I have very limited experience in dating. My friend suggested me to get to know one of her boyfriend's friends as she thinks that he might be perfect for me. I decided to go for it.

He added me and we started chatting. He seems nice. We decided to meet face to face. I informed my friend about this meetup. When he saw me, he had this prolonged eyebrow raise (both eyebrows). I dont know what this was supposed to mean but I smiled (even though confused) and said hi.

We went for a drink and as soon as we sat down, his phone rang and said he needed to take this call. As soon as he took the call, he looked at me, smiled, and in a low voice he said 'we literally have just met' and then, looked at me again, his face flushed, smiled, and said 'yes... a lot' and then hung up.

During his call, I started thinking again about his expression when we met and also about the call... it felt weird. I was thinking of actually asking him about it, but it felt awkward so, I continued wandering while looking at tv nearby.

We talked for a bit about ourselves (sometimes with awkward silences) and he mentioned his friend (my friend's boyfriend) stating that he was his best friend. Throughout the date he asked me more than once if I knew his best friend (I don't) to which he was surprised to my response. Then, we went for a small walk. I noticed that he clenched his hands in his pockets while walking and talking (sometimes he started walking very fast but then like slow down).

Anyway, apart from these things I mentioned, it went ok. Overall he seems like a nice but shy guy. He asked me out for a second date and I don't know what to say. Do you think he was just nervous or is there something weird?

Haha its very simple dear anon you know what happened is very normal.

1. Point you said yoh chatted so when you Didnot meet assuming he never saw your pic its just that when you talk to a person in chat it feels different from there personality you see infront of you as a physical person they try to match your views and voice to the body I mean the physical appearence for example when I talk people think I am very funny in chat, but if you met me irl I look like very wise serious intellectual guy but I am dumb af

So it's just like pre assessing he was getting am image of you and matched it with how it tallied with his imagination most people won't see this but everybody does it this guy was more subtle about it nothing bad just knowing what type is your date based on that he would behave.

2. Someone calling, it's very clear it was his best friend making sure you had reached safe bc his girlfriend probed her boyfriend to check if you reached safely for the date and didn't back out as you to are shy. It's the thing that match makers do they kinda take responsibility for you guys just helping you out so they just were checking on you which he responded yes she is there or something like that what you said and I know thet will be inside joke with guys a common thing nothing out of blue.

3. Him walking slow and fast just was thinking should he kiss you or should not or what approach he should take that you would be comfortable sweaty palms may be so he was using handkerchief in the pocket not sure though and was also thinking how to ask for second date that's it it was very normal iguess
4. Next time you meet you will know for sure if you go for second date.
