How to test waters with a guy at work being subtle?

I kind of have a crush on a guy from work but we do not talk that frequently. Only when we happen to bump into each other or if we are eating together as a group. Personally I think as long as I’m working there it would be hard to pursue anything since everything is formal. Also he's usually quiet. Any advice on this?

Subtle isn't going to work I don't think for a couple of reasons (aside from it generally doesn't work anyway regardless because women are often "too subtle"), 1) he's quiet, so probably not a guy that's going to approach you 2) you're co-workers, and many won't date co-workers, and it's especially "dangerous" for guys (harassment claims etc). So I think YOU'LL have to be the one to initiate and approach directly if you like him.
