Boyfriend wants me to apologize to his parents for something they didn’t hear?

Me and my boyfriend had a stupid fight today, where he was insulting me several times. Where it escalated was when he told me I was delusional, had a different point of view than everyone else in the world, just over some stupid small fight that doesn’t even make sense. He then told me I was acting like a religious fanatic, and I said “well, you have that in your family so you would know all about that”. Yes, this was EXTREMLY petty and I immediately regretted saying so, I don’t even know why I said that. I think I was just fed up from insults and found the first thing to be rude back about. I am seriously ashamed of my behavior.

Obviously this made him mad, and he ended up raging and giving me the silent treatment. I tried to apologize several times, he told me the only way he’ll forgive me is if I tell his family I said this about them and apologize for it, or I can leave.

I really don’t know what to do, I fucked up. Does anyone have advice?

I think he is being extremely arrogant demanding you tell his family what you said then beg their fotgiveness for saying it !

We all occasionally say things we regret in an argument but not only did he provoke you, but by saying 'or you can leave' is - imho - a very clear red flag indication he doesn't love you and that is simply unforgivable, it's emotional blackmail !

My advice? Tell him if he doesn"t drop his self-righteous & totally unjustified demand, you will take up his offer and leave him !

Get out of that relationship you're being abused and you shouldn't be tolerating that in your life. He owes you an apology for how he choose to speak to you. He should not be a boyfriend at all. He needs to be somebody of the past and you should leave him there.
