I feel like there's no point in relationships/marriages, because eventually people get bored and tired of each other. Why do I feel this way?

I feel a relationship is only worth it when both partners are working towards a worthwhile and noble purpose (eg Pierre and Marie Curie), and are inspiring each others ambitions, dreams, and working together to be better people.

That's what true love looks like to me. What does true love look like to you?

A relationship is at it's best when the partners inspire each other and support and uplift each other. It's at it's best when they work together to help each other achieve their dreams and gain joy from watching each other succeed.

It can be hard to find someone who shares our own loves and interests, that's really true. Especially if your hobbies feel 'weird' or 'not normal' or something. I promise you there are tons of people out there who would be thrilled to be with you, and who even share some, if not most of those hobbies and interests!

As for getting bored - that's all about choice. I just wrote a myTake about it, but basically we need to choose to want to be involved with our partners. We need to choose to love them and be excited by them and find love and lust and joy with them, because joy and happiness are a choice. And some people don't want to make that choice, they want everything to be easy and like a fairy tale and don't get that relationships take purposeful commitment and dedication. And we're never taught that, we're taught that it's a fairy tale, that when you find the right person it will be magical and easy - and it's not. So people mistake comfort and deep love and friendship for a lack of spark or boredom.

True love, to me, is communication, friendship, commitment, the ability to find joy in your partner's successes, and that being together makes you both better people. It's not easy, but I do believe it's real.

Just because you have weird interests doesn't mean people won't understand.

To answer the question at hand it's not a bored or tired feeling in the relationship it's more or a comfortable routine that you get into. If you want to avoid that add some spontaneity, try something new together.

A relationship isn't about two people having the exact same goals. It's more of a she/he makes me happy and i make them happy.

It's supporting your significant other when the decide to better themselves and you help them, because you know they'd do the same for you.

My wife and I have different goals in life but we love and care about each other and we make the other happy.

That's what a relationship is.

As to why you feel this way, is you haven't found the right person is my guess.

You're on the right track, we are NOT monogamous creatures, we are POLYAMOROUS BY "DEFAULT". Not many can go against their biological 'nature' and win.
