No, end it. 1. He deserves better. Unless you change you're just going to prolong the inevitable and make it much harder on him.

I'm not necessarily saying you should. You BOTH need to be happy for it to work. You right out of the gate said your relationship lacks passion. Does he feel that way to? If not you're NOT on the same page. If you CAN'T come to an understanding about that it's never going to work. The question is are you being reasonable about what he's able to give? If not, you probably won't find it elsewhere either. If I were you I would tell him "we need to talk" tell him how you see your lives playing out together ask him what he sees? See if you're remotely close and what you can work together to improve. And if you're not very close you need to accept it or MOVE ON! He's grown f***ing man. Don't feel "responsible" for him. If you are both truly thrilled friends you claim you are he'll accept it. And if he doesn't, you just got your answer on how good of friends you were.
