If your best friend told you that your spouse/SO/girlfriend/main squeeze was cheating on you. . . would you believe it?

A commonly recurring question on this site is: "I discovered that my best friend's wife/whatever is cheatong on him. Should I tell him?"

My initial thought is that your best friend may not believe you and simply get angry at you for telling "such wild stories." And if that happens, you will probably lose your best friend, because. . . people don't want to hear what they don't want to hear, until they're ready to hear it.

So, if your best friend came to you and said that he saw your partner passionately kissing someone else in a place where they perhaps thought they would not be discovered, do you think you would believe it or tell your best friend to GTFO and don't ever come back?

I would believe it, because my best friend has never told me a lie

if this is coming from my best friends, then I would have to consider what they say, yes...

and they would also have to show me all of the details about what they actually know and the things they don't know... and then I would have to talk it out with my partner...

no assumptions of it whether it is true or false, would just be something that I would have to talk through, with everyone involved

no. she often likes trying to make my life miserable just by doing and saying other things. her sister told me that she hated that her sister wore a crop top because she couldn't because she is overweight. so... i don't trust her judgement. she's very spiteful.

Yes I would but I’m sure if actually in that situation if your so has never given you a reason to distrust them it would make it very difficult

I would for sure raise the topic with my partner and ask about his feelings/opinions.

The rest depends on it. I can learn the truth from my partner (cheating/misunderstanding) or be left in the void of assumptions. My relationships were always based on trust, so a lot was needed to convince me that my partner was lying to me.

I would believe him yeah because I know he wouldn't lie to me about something like that. But I'd still want to verify it for myself just to make sure because it's always possible that he just saw a situation and misunderstood it. As that can happen sometimes.
