I'm just gonna tell it like it is. It's your generation that's bringing in on them selves by advocating for illegals and open border. Countries like Mexico have bled us to the point that is no value to the dollar anymore and illegals have soaked our medical and educational system to the point they're closing schools. Your generation is advocating for all that. Trump is trying to close the borders, he's aware of what's going on yet deep state democrats and rino's that have gotten right off of it already are benefiting from what your generation advocates for. Of course there isn't anymore jobs left, many men were the first to feel it when they lost their jobs their marriages and everything they own including their kids because they lost their only way to support them.
Hold up where’s the stats on illegals taking over medical and educational system? And no I believe illegals are taking jobs whites don’t want to take. 😐 in my area, I see more white homeless than Mexican ones (based on look only though.)

Oh wait, sorry about that, I miss read it, mybad my apology there. But the stats are the fact the value of the dollar has been trashed in the last 15 years. That's why prices are so high and it's taking more to buy. For ever dollar they send to Mexico the value in the dollar gets cut again. And trust me, they use our ER's for doctor's visits and that's no joke. That has closed numerous hospitals and our taxes are skyhigh and yet our schools are still closing. It takes money and a lot of it to treat illegals and educate them, LOTS and us tax payers are paying their bills.
@Lela247 Also, you're wrong about them taking jobs whites don't want to take, they took jobs that even the middle class relied on such as construction, all forms of construction is done by illegals. Here in the south, you pass any new home construction and I guarantee you you see nothing but illegals doing those jobs, no whites, no blacks, AT ALL. And yes they are in fact illegals. They can't speak one word of English.

Naaaah I’m not republican or Democrat. I don’t vote because I’m actually fairly new to the voting world and can’t really say I’m well knowledges in politics. It would take up time for me to research. I just stand by and allow myself to learn from others. Or I’ll pick up info, question it, google it when I want, and then I’ll make my conclusion. I do agree we should have some sort of regulation in term sir borders. Not that I don’t have sympathy for immigrants but our country should be a priority. We should protect it and keep it balanced. But also I know friends who’s family BECAME citizens and are very much hard working people. They don’t just take shit. And no. I’m saying STATISITICALLY there seems to be more White people who are on welfare. No I don’t see rebulicans as the devil, I’m neutral.

I think our generation values other's opinions more so than before, since opinions are more voiced and easily portrayed over the internet. With the internet came a bigger wave of "image feeding" and "gathering of likes" from selfies and Instagram and such. I mean the internet brought about caming, and that industry as well. So image and wanting to be thought of as beautiful or desirable or just liked by a majority and such has grown a lot, and I believe, anxiety and depression is the negative outcomes from this hungry for positive attention people are wanting.
Sometimes we use other's opinions of ourselves to view ourselves and of what we are instead of actually believing in ourselves and not caring as much on other's opinions.
I would recommend you to find a good man, so that you can go through it together. We are not supposed to fight it alone but thax to 21st century new ideology we have to feel every inch of it.
Life is ruthless its always was and will be and we are not immortal either !
but we have to fight it and put up a fight and of-course its the battle. We will lose in the end and the life (death) will be victorious. Its part of suffering and the "art of resisting" that matters in the eyes of God. I am doctor, Player and pretty good at wasting time with entertainment but I have everything expect the peace, prosperity and inner peace.
WHOEVER created us or we evolved there is inner Operating system that will allow us to feel good if we ponder on the religion and stuff like that and actually Praise the GoD.
I would not recommend anyone to do it for act to follow my path but do it for yourself otherwise money won't buy you anything.
People run after things that satisfy or pleasure them short-term but don't go the hard way to things that can benefit them long-term. We take everything for granted and attach ourselves to the worldly stuff and once we understand that the world in an unhealthy way.
I feel like I have no grounds to say that because I'm depressed myself, mainly due to all the bullying that I face for years and years in my life that lead to hopelessness, but also I feel like depression became a trend among my peers. Like they just sad over a thing and announce that they are depressed, and now people think depression is just sad feeling.
The economy has changed since our parents were in school. Education is more expensive now than it used to be, as is housing, and pretty much everything else. Salaries haven't increased enough to compensate for it, and jobs haven't gotten any easier to find. Good jobs are harder to find than they used to be. Therefore school is more competitive, and people have to work harder, and they just end up exhausted, and broke.
Yet so many idiots on here blame her for her problems. So ignorant.

Don't automatically assume a STEM degree is what you need though, there are a lot of external forces trying to pressure women in STEM but what they fail to mention is that many are unhappy and change career later. Persue your dreams, don't let yourself be trapped in something you don't wanna do.
One thing is for sure. Gloom and doom thinking will lead to gloom and doom. I don't think any generation has it easy. And they all go through this kind of think at our age. In fact, I think my generation has life ridiculously easy compared to what my grandparents had to live through. The best way to make sure your future is bright is to take responsibility for your own happiness, not blame others for your problems and get to work bettering your life. You are responsible for your own destiny. That has always been true.
Personally I think college is a waste of 4 years of your life a thousands of dollars. A lot of jobs these days that require a degree they could teach you what you need to know on the job. College has become a system of indoctrination to make people think a certain way so that they can be made to do things.
I went to trade school for a year and a half and I make more money than a lot of people I know that have degrees.
I say if your worried about having a job when you graduate go to school for something that is in high demand and pays well. This notion that people have these days of doing something that they love is dumb. Your reason for going to work should not be that you enjoy it. Your for going to work should be to make a living if it happens that you like what you do then that's a good thing. I don't do what I do because I like it, I do it because it's where the money is.
Because society has gone out of its way to dump problem after problem after problem onto you from the moment you entered school. Instead of telling you to be strong, to rise up, and to thrive they told you you're weak, that everyone oppresses you, that society can't be trusted (even though it was society telling you this), and that if you have enough tantrums you'll get what you want. Sadly, it's not your fault. You were lied to from the get go with the aid of modern technology and social media. But in the end, the only one in the world you can depend on is yourself. And you MUST depend on yourself.
You must be your own rock, your own hard place, and your own savior.
Once you realize that, the burden of all the problems and stigmas that have been artificially implanted in you wash away. Don't look to movie stars, politicians, or activists to pull you out of the mud. They don't care about you. You put your feet down and drag yourself out and become stronger for it.

@SirRexington True, but that's a technicality at best. True, you do need support, but you don't need to be coddled, sheltered, and spoiled. That does not prepare you for the real world. Learning you rely on yourself more than others is what builds character, and that character will draw other strong people to you to give you support, but that all starts from within. Not looking outwards for others to do it all for you.
I definitely don't agree with sheltering them too much as that limits their own self discovery, and the best lessons are self taught but learning is not enough, eventually you need help using that knowledge in practical matters, typically. Most things can't be solved by 1 man.
I think because technology and material comforts has ensnared many people in a life of vanity - a life where they aren't serving worthy and noble causes. When you live for something worthy and significant and important - your chances of suicide and depression are a lot lower.
Because we’ve been groomed to be lazy. Whenever I encounter a challenge I usually just give up. In high school that’s not an issue because anyone can get away with that as I have by having everything told to you. But in college there’s no way i’ll be able to do that. I feel like I will be of zero use because of my lack of persistence in anything I do. I understand you honestly, but i’m coming from a place where I know i’ll be useless so I’m having fun now, and I guess I don't know drink myself to death when I get older.
I don't think we are lazy at all. We are working longer hours and more hours than we have in years. Its every man for himself and that is near impossible.

I disagree. I'm better off than my parents and I'm only 27. Historically this is the best time to be alive by all metrics. Lowest crime rates, longest life span, most access to opportunities for everyone, etc...
So what we have a shit president. We always have a shit president. Politics are corrupt and there's not a big difference between the 2 parties right now.
Were are the most anxious and depressed because we are allowed to be. Noone gave a shit years ago. Plus it's what happens with the more freedom you have. So be glad your depressed. Adversity makes you better. You push through it for however long it takes, because yes nothing is guaranteed.
Yeah it sucks I used to rent a apartment with my sister but it was so tough paying rent we had to move back with our parents. My parents don't understand either they think it's so easy to buy a house when everything is so expensive
Don`t even get me started on that. They keep forgetting that getting a job and buying a house and such was easier in their days.
I’m totally struggling to survive as a single parent with a failed marriage behind me. My husband was narcissistic so my daughter and I basically left with nothing. I’m not sure I’m in your generation but it costs so much to live these days that it’s hard for anyone starting out or starting over. I have ptsd, anxiety and depression.

I honestly don't think you have a right to tell this young woman to open a freaking book and all of her problems will be solved. It's more than that and if you think it isn't than shame on you. I am 16 years old. I have been told to kill myself 13 times in the past year. I have been assaulted in an alley. I have been told nobody loves me by my ex boyfriend. I have been in an abusive relationship. Do you really think a book can fix that? What about going outside? Does it really seem like I have to much time on my hands because I am studying for 6 finials, my ACT's and more? What about everyone trying to have a perfect body and look good on social media? Your rights are "life, liberty and the PURSUIT of happiness". Nothing is guaranteed in the secular world. I worked my way through college and had to pay half of my college costs. Despite being unemployed 4 times totaling several years and being on government cheese (no food stamps, just cheese and powdered milk). We now own a house and 2 cars, clear; put two kids through college, clear; gave each a car, clear, plus $5K to start. Both are married and have 3 kids apiece. You just have to make up your mind you are going to accomplish something and then do it. I've been through counseling, etc. You're right, Obama was fairly rich, but now we are rid of him. The spontaneity of (Al Gore's?) Internet helps instill hatred in non-God-fearing individuals.
So, drop the pity party, get used to the fact that life isn't fair, accept Jesus as your Savior (the only guarantee), and start pursuing your happiness.
Well first there seems to be many a$$holes in the world. Then there's laziness, being spoiled, staring at their phones constantly. Joining a gym or activity that makes you move, to boost your health and moral. Stop overpaying for sugar flavored coffee. Try to eat clean. Learn and laugh. For me the problem is I can speak properly to find a girlfriend or make new friends, so that depresses me personally at times, oh and there's work too, not always great. We just have to keep challenging ourselves, and stop looking at social media or the news, it's mostly negative news.
You’re generation is not going through anything any precious generation didn’t go through. The difference is you have expectations of it being handed to you, or getting a trophy when you didn’t win anything. This has set up recent generations for nothing but heartache. Realize parents have been making this mistake for 15-29 years now, and it may take a couple dysfunctional generations before we ban that shit.
I've read several studies on the issue. Our generation IS going through something different.
The economy has been shifting over the last, oh, 60 or so years, to accommodate the baby boomers. But now those people are all getting old, but will live longer than previous generations, so the government will have to dispense more money to pay for their retirement. But guess what! The government wasn't thinking ahead. So it's the young people who have to pay.
Society is built differently than it used to be, and it's not built in a way that's friendly toward young people.
@evm987 it wasn’t back then either. I lived with several roommates until my mid 20’s, I had a crappy car, I couldn’t do all the things I wanted. As lon as you “buy into” an article obviously written by a young person, you are just reinforcing your own stereotype, and not taking responsibility to take action. Things that are different from the other end: no one stayed at home crying about I can’t afford to move out, we moved into crappy living conditions and made it work. We all started at low payin jobs and worked for increased salaries, we didn’t think anyone would hand it to us. We realized there is no substitute for hard work, and it’s an ethic that has not been received well by younger people. They work harder at making excuses than making money and surving. No one handed it to us no matter what your perception of that is...
I'm slightly offended by your implication that my generation doesn't know how to work hard. I've been working since I was ten and got a paper route. But guess what... my bank account balance is currently at about $50. I'm going to be forced to live with my parents for my fourth year of university because unless I take out a loan from the bank, I will literally have no money to rent a place, even a crappy place that I share with several people.
This summer, I worked harder than ever in my life, ten hours a day doing physical labour outside, coming home with my body physically too exhausted to function, but then forcing myself to spend an hour or two working on an independent study course I took to try make time to work during the school year, then collapsing into bed and instantly falling asleep. I didn't see my friends, I hardly did anything to enjoy myself. Does that sound like laziness and wanting things handed to me?
@evm987 hey good for you! I’ve managed hundreds of young people. Realize and acknowledge you are the exception. You’re living at home to save, and finding a way. Like we all did. Too many don’t try and find that way, and that’s what people speak to with your generation and millennials. The rest of the workin world takes offense to the lack of work ethic and professionalism of people under 30 right now (like seriously, you’re late again? Missed a deadline again? Don’t worry about making money cause you live at home?). Your generation tends to make it harder on themselves, and then complain about it (which we did all did). Younger people think socialism is good which is horrible, but it gives more hand outs. Keep your work ethic and you will be the one getting what you want... even if it’s harder than you thought

@Johnnyjay you think jobs were just there before? That’s the delusional argument. Everyone struggles to find work out of college and get that first job. Difference is gen x expected that, v you “expecting” a job. Most people take jobs that don’t require the degree at first and it pays off down the line when you work your way up. Sooooo many young people expect to be inserted higher up because of the degree butnit doesn’t work that way...

@Johnnyjay playing the victim. My generation isn’t stronger or weaker. We try and make it through hard work, yours tries to make it with as little work as possible. It’s wry well documented in the work force data. I wish everyone luck figuring out how to live their best life, but until I see your generations plan work, I’m sticking with mine. And I’m not gonna whine about it...
It is harder for our generation to buy a house, the average age in the UK is 35. It might increase.
People today aren’t any more depressed than people, at least since industrialization, have ever been. There’s a great deal more awareness these days however. In the past people didn’t know what to call it, and they lived shorter bleaker lives of manual labor. They committed suicide through slower means, mostly drinking themselves to death. Or they simply worked themselves into the ground. The people in charge praised them as having good work ethic and encouraged that sort of thing.
Because you guys don't know how good you got it. You don't think we had problems too? But we pushed through. Stop focusing on what you believe is unfair or wrong and see what beautiful things life has given you. I went through abuse, homelessness, and illness. But rarely did I let it get me down. And not to the point where I forgot how good I have it compared to others. You're lucky to be getting an education. Seriously snap out of it and enjoy what life does give you.
