Why don't parents have control of their kids anymore?

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - Three girls, aged 12 to 13 years old, were arrested Thursday after authorities said they caused $350,000 in damage to a business in Volusia County.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the three girls “created their own disaster” when they vandalized Imperial Foam & Insulation located in Ormond Beach.

The sheriff’s office said the three slashed bags of raw polystyrene material, spray-painted, graffitied, and crashed forklifts into products and smashing property. Pictures provided by authorities show the aftermath of the vandals. Police also provided a picture of a phallus spray-painted on a wall. News Channel 8 has chosen to withhold that image.

Authorities noted that two of the girls even spray-painted their names onto foam blocks.

They were caught a short time later when an employee entered the warehouse, overheard the spraying, and saw the girls running from the building.

Each girl was trespassed from the property and charged with burglary of a business and criminal mischief, both enhanced felonies due to the state of emergency.

I've seen a lot of things about kids roaming in gangs, being unruly, and if anyone complains they beat them up, stab them, and even wind up killing them. What is up with kids today?

Because the "community" has all but vanished.

The majority of society has the type of cognitive functioning that wishes to protect their loved ones from harm.

When society crumbles parents become stricter as the community outside which used to be the extende family, disappears. As a result the only community children are allowed, is the community inside the 4 walls of the house. Naturally children rebel (because children want to be outside with their friends not trapped in a cage), this undermines the parents leadership. You throw on top of this the anti-parenting laws and the rights children have, parents these days are afraid to discipline their children in fear of legal implications.

I’ve run into problems with large groups of kids skateboarding on school property all the time. If you tell them to get lost, they just go to the other side of property. I’ve called police on them and police run them off and they’re back in a few hours. They know that they’re untouchable and that the district isn’t going to charge their parents or them, so they understandably find no reason to listen to Security or teachers.

Skateboarding is not a major threat. Kids have been skateboarding for years, just like bike riding. But not listening to authorities is more of a new thing when they challenge authority and beat up someone who asks them to leave. Even in the classrooms kids challenge authority and it isn't the kids that get expelled, but the teachers who get fired for standing up to these hooligans.

You are correct. The skateboarding itself is not the issue. The issue is scoring points off of school officials and encouraging more policy violations, which could potentially be more destructive or dangerous to property or persons. Kids who act out at school become adults who act out in the street. I for see a lot of officer involved shootings which would not have needed to happen if dad was allowed to raise his own kids and discipline was still a thing. I understand that the whole point of that is the same point that Hitler was going for when he released a pretty sizable majority of criminals in Germany after shutting the police down , at least the traditional police, which was to get desperate citizens to beg the government for a solution.

That's because the government took parents rights to punish our kids. If you try spanking your kids the kids will call the police and say their parents are abusing them then you'll have cps on your back and the kids go to goiter care

At a guess there'll be one parent and perhaps struggling with their own issues.
More generally, you might consider how society supports parents who admonish their child in public.
And a generation of kids that think harsh language is abuse.

If kids were punished by the law just as adults, it might have better effect. This loop hole is their greatest motivator after peer pressure.

This is an extreme case. Kids generally get up to all sorts but generally harmless.

Most of the time, but it is beginning to happen regularly when 12-16 law breakers decide they want to hurt/kill someone, mess something up that is historic, such as a painting, or decide to shoplift/smash and grab, at any expensive store..
