It's because they think that if a woman is playing hard to get with him, she must play hard to get with every other guy. If she does that with every guy that means that she's not the kind of girl who'd cheat or quickly leave him to jump on a new dick. That's the real reason guys don't take girls who they see as being "easy" seriously. Fear of being cuckolded by such a woman mainly.

The thing is that's a naive view. Often playing hard to get is just a tactic a woman uses to convince a man that she's that kind of girl, but it doesn't means that she does this with every guy. She might have had sex on the first date, had one night stands, casual "friends with benefits" type relationships with other guys before that. She plays hard to get to fool him.

For guys who understand that this is often the case then they'll see it as a waste of time and move on from such a woman.

What a guy wants and what a guy gets are 2 different things.

That guy back in the 80s who dreamt of Pamela Anderson running down the beach towards him before they fall to embrace and make love on the sand ended up married to the quiet little geek girl from science class and they had 3 kids together before they were 20 and live in a council flat in a town in nowhereville where they grew up.
Neither of them are satisfied with their life and dream they could still bag that dream girl/guy from love island.

Only men I know who really prefer women hard to get are players, and it's because to them the woman doesn't mind anything, what they like is the hunt, so the most risks, the hardest, and the worse they have, the most they enjoy.

I really don’t know. The only thing I can think of personally, is that a girl who is hard to get probably isn’t treating you unfairly. Meaning, some girls will fuck guys 5 minutes after meeting them, meet a “good guy” and make him wait a month for sex. If you’re a hoe, except with me, I’m done with you.
