Lock it not really, imagine an emergency occurs and the kid can't even op te door anymore. I would never want any door inside the house to be locked, except maybe the bathroom door.
And like i said, if we were going to get dressed, we’d say “hey im gonna go get dressed”. Meaning we could temporarily shut the door or even if we left the door open, people knew not to come around the corner. And he’d only be called a pedo if he told others about it
Under age of 11 I wouldn't expect to need to knock. After maybe, kids deserve some privacy at that stage ( I know I started to do certain things around that age)
Kids like anyone else need some privacy. If they don't get it at home they will just figure out another way to be sneaky. So yeah they can close their doors. I draw the line on locks however.
Its not spying. Its just keep your door open. End of story. My family didn't constantly check on us. Closed doors often means there's something to hide. We had privacy without needing to close doors
Changing clothes. Writing in a journal. Watching weird hentai or R rated movies. Having a friend they have a crush on over. Stashing their snacks. etc. They will grow up with a strong sense of reality. I will teach them about natural consequences to choices. I will never lie to them, not even about santa being made up. They will understand that I care about what they want in life and won't feel the need to lie to me. They will know what retroviruses are and how they work before puberty hits. I would be raising strait up the nerdiest kids ever.
Definitely before a certain age the parents can enter at will, but you can also keep the door closed before then, just without a reasonable expectation of privacy

I let my kids shut their doors but I just walk in there whenever since they're still small. Once they are preteens I'll probably knock before going in
If theyre changing clothes then knocking is understandable
Yes daughter or any house guests have privacy.
they can lock or have door open, I will always knock before going in or at times even talking.
I just wish people would do same for me 😂😂
Doesn't really matter in my opinion. Kids don't misbehave when things are going right at home, so I'd work on that first.
Yea like they shouldn't have any reason to WANT to close the door
exactly!
If I had a child sure you can close your door. No locks and I’ll bust in whenever. It’s my house. Well it depends.
Lmao
If a single dad walks in on a girl above the age of 7 or 8, he is going to be suspected of being a pedophile.

Right now my 3 year old refuses to ever have his door closed, but when he's that age, he's allowed to close the door, and we will knock.

No locked doors. I'll knock though. If something would happen to my kid, I have to be able to burst in, so no locked doors.
I understand
Yes cause they have a right to privacy.
They're allowed to close their door and I will knock before entering.
I had privacy without needing to close it
Sure, but everyone is different. If they feel they need their door closed then they can have it.
Yes teenager's deserve a bit of privacy. Besides I'd rather not walk in to something Id rather not see.
12 to me isn't a teen. Maybe thir-teen, four-teen, etc. but i wouldn't expect them to need privacy until theyre like 16
No kids jist fur babies so I dunno.. never gave it any thought
Yes and yes. I was never much concerned about what they were doing in their room.
I shut his door at bedtime cause I usually have other things to do and don't want the sound keeping him awake
Well thats nice ig. I personally couldn’t but as long as you know theyre safe
His window is also nailed shut and blocked by his dresser look
I would only knock on there Door if they were in there teens to show I respect their privacy
Yes during certain times like after they shower, and I'd knock the door. Otherwise they should keep it unlocked
Yes, and it would have an inside only lock so they can stay safe should anyone try breaking in.
I never understood doors having the outside lock anyways
Yeah it's kinda dumb, only use would be as a prison.
I would raise them to not do foolish things by educating them, I wouldn't need to spy on em.

I have an inside lock and honestly it makes me feel safe lol
I'm ok with my kids hiding stuff from me.

I would do the very thing people say not to do.
I would be my kid's best friend.

Yes, I believe you should knock before entering her room. However, I also believe it is your house, therefore your rules.
Im just not used to any kids shutting their door under the age of 16
