Met up with a guy for the first time yesterday and I’m unsure about how he feels?

I’ve been talking to a guy I met on a dating app for about a week or so.
Yesterday, I went over to watch this movie with him that I suggested to him. I’m not sure if he was shy, awkward, or not interested after seeing me in person? I don't know. We sat on the same couch with the middle part open the entire time. He didn’t try to make any moves (which I’m totally ok with). It was around 11:30pm when it ended which is when he usually goes to sleep, so after the movie ended he politely asked me that I’d have to leave cause it was late and time for him to sleep cause he has to get up early for work.

He then walked me to my car, and gave me a hug. Halfway home, I checked my texts and it was a text saying “Thanks for introducing me to the movie and spending time with me this evening. I appreciate it. I hope you get home safely. Goodnight!” — still can’t tell if he’s just being nice or if he’s interested.”

Originally, we were supposed to meet this upcoming weekend because his birthday is on the 16th and mine is the 17th. He is supposedly making us dinner, but now I don't know if that’s gonna happen or not because I don't know how he felt about yesterday. Would it be weird for me to ask if the plans for our birthdays still stand? I guess that way I can get an answer too to see where things are

Instead, just text or call him and say something like "is 2pm a good time for me to reach your home? I can't wait to try your cooking."

Yes, as long as you like him, make it happen. Be positive in your text and go for the birthday plan.

Perhaps even add yours after. Invite him over and you cook for him (or to another place to dine).

It's the start of a possible relationship. Hence don't over think. Just be positive and do it. Meet. Date and go to the next base. Good luck!

Well he responded basically saying he wants to be friends for now because he’s new into the dating scene and wants to make sure about what he really wants and that if I’m open to be friends, we can do something for our birthday this weekend... lmao

And I think this is good, to start as platonic friends.

Doing so imposes less burden to you both. All you need is to focus on whether you are compatible in other aspects of life other than sex.

Who knows perhaps it will work out well? Hence just communicate honestly and openly. Try not to read in-between lines and don't "speak in riddles" so to speak 😁

With good communication skills, I think within 6 months you will know if the relationship will work. You may then decide whether to go to the next base or not. So take it slow, one step at a time.
