Why did my guy friend get upset when I mentioned another guy?

So I have been friends with this guy for about a year now and we talk to each other everyday about random topics.

Today we were talking about a movie and I told him that another guy friend of mine recommended it to me saying it was a really good movie. After this my guy friend replied with « I see » then went offline. I just thought he went to sleep because it was pretty late at night but then today he has been texting me in a super dry way and he waits 2-3 hours before replying to my texts.

Is this him being jealous? (I used to have feelings for him but i felt like he didn’t like me back so i just moved on)

Also everytime i try to talk to him about some guy i think is cute or ask for advice about boys since he's also a boy he just changes the subject.

Is he just uncomfortable?

He is NOT your friend. Guys (single guys, at least) cannot have female "friends" - only females that they want to have sex with but haven't yet been able to. That's the whole reason he is "friends" with you, so of course he is jealous.

If he is no longer your friend, that's okay, because he never really was. But at the same time, if you hoped to maintain this facade of a friendship, then you screwed up big time by talking about doing something with another guy.

But do not make the mistake of thinking that you can be friends with a single guy, because it's not possible for single guys to be "just friends". They want to bang you. Always.

He’s a guy, and a straight one at that. He isn’t interested in having a conversation about what guy you think is cute, that’s a topic for your female friends.


Now when it comes to your situation in its entirety, I think you could use some clarity from him as to where you guys stand. For you to conclude that he isn’t interested because you didn’t “feel” like he was, tells me that no conversation was had so who knows how he’s actually feeling. For all you know, he could feel like you’re playing games because you spend all this time talking to him yet mention other men or wanting advice about them. I’m not saying that’s where his mind is at all, and you had your reasons for thinking he wasn’t interested and maybe he’s really not. But you can’t know anything for sure until you address it.

The thing is that at the beginning of our friendship he would tell me about other girls and i would do the same but one day he randomly stopped doing it which made things different. I didn't just start talking about them with no reason.

I understand, but it’s just the principle. You never had a conversation with him about how either of you felt, you just assumed he wasn’t into you. I wonder, what exactly would feel like interest vs not feeling as though he showed any at all?

This is why men and women can't be friends. Someone always catches feelings and heartache and frustration occurs. This is why I don't have any female friends. Only female coworkers who I do not do anything with outside of work.

He probably likes you and has assumed at this point you have friend zoned him which it sounds like you did without realizing it.
