More bad in the long run, but only humans can decide it for themselves whether it's "good" or "bad", other living things cannot exactly reason it give their input on this. I still feel that this is a world where nothing is actually solved, it's still the same things that happen over and over again. It's still a dog eat dog world, it's still a world filled with cruelty, greed and injustice. Some people get luckier than others. Majority of the harm, damage and destruction that happened on our planet, to the living things on this planet and even towards one another had came from our species over the course of its history, its actions and what it had done. Nothing is ever resolved and everything comes to an end one way or another eventually like some ridiculous bad joke, that's why I find it completely absurd. No matter what we do, all of us will still die in the end, thus the only thing that majority of our species do is try and deny the inevitable outcome over and over again is by adding more and new people into this chaotic absurd mess, which eventually means they'll also have to go through the things that they may not have ever wanted to go through and then they'll also become subtracted from this world too. Always history repeating itself. The world can always use more victims thrown into it, simply because the majority are afraid to stop this cycle or question if it's worth it to continuously put new and more people into it. But it is what it is, it's just like running a hamster wheel again and again to no end, at least until that hamster wheel somehow breaks.
As of now, in the polls results most of the guys here have the consensus and feel and/or think that it is mostly bad. But I guess it really comes down to how one sees it, feels about it, believes about it and thinks about it. Most of the time we react to how we feel and believe about things than not.
The world is mostly dominated by humans. Humans do mostly shit as they were instructed by the top Elite 0.01% of all humans, who rule it all. Therefore humans are evil. The world is evil.
There is good and bad throughout the world but most of that is something that I will never experience. What matters in my life is the good and bad that I have chosen to be my environment. If it is all bad, that is my responsibility. It is unrealistic to think that we can totally eliminate all of the bad in our lives, but we can minimize it.
I do care about what the rest of the world is like, but what is most important to me is what is happening in my world, and that is a small part of the Earth!
The world is mostly good, because people are not most of the world. Only people have the ability to be bad. Only our mistakes make parts of the world bad. We have not yet managed to make enough mistakes to outweigh everything else in the world, so the world in by far mostly good.
If we are just speaking about people and what we can do, then the bad always outweighs the good. The vast majority of people are ignorant, greedy, and selfish. They would destroy the world just for a moment of pleasure. As history shows, we keep doing it over and over without ever really learning and growing from what we are doing to hurt each other. Art is great, but the best art comes from pain. The bad still outweighs the good.
Humans are bad by nature, but we strive for goodness. We want goodness, but we can't help but be bad. It's why we need God in our lives, and a strong moral compass, so we act in the interest of the greater good instead of our own selfishness
There are many atheists and none-believers who are good, wants to help others etc., and there are selfish religious people who wants to make money on their religious services and gain power. Religious dictatorships still exists. Some religious can be as violent as Mao and Stalin, but other religious are nice. Same applies to atheists.

There are religions that say that murder and child sacrifice are good, but you'd never see any atheist say it's okay, because they know murder is bad. One of the major things that separates humans vs everything else is our capacity for emotion and how its a major influence on so many things.
Now i see a recognizable difference between emotion and instinct. Not to say that emotion isn't present in animals because it is but its defiantly more "prominent" (not sure if thats The right word to discribe it but you know what i mean).
Now in my opinion right/wrong, morals, ethics etc are an abstract concept.
Bear with me for the next part.
Logically, if humans could put emotion aside because we had a focus on technological advancement, technically it would make sense to cut off dead weight (low iq, mental and physical disorders, and any people that arnt contributing), but this is where emotion and empathy comes in.
Neither scenario is "right or wrong" because they are just two different ways of "being".
But because we have emotions, those chemicals create a sense of emotional duality that we perceive as right and wrong.
Again i feel that animals (best example is dogs) seem to have a sense of emotion vs just instinct, as emotions when you think about it are logically useless.
Wether the concept of right and wrong extends to our furry friends is somthing i dont know, but obviously we can recognize the basic emotions of happyness, sadness etc.
In conclusion my point is that right or wrong, good or bad does not really exist, but it does in our minds.
If i had to choose one id stick with having emotion because i enjoy for example sharing an emotional bond with my girlfriend.
But of course if it was the other scenario, and emotions weren't present we wouldn't notice anyway because it wasent their in the first place.

Look at police, while cops tend to be good. . . Well, you know the history.
The fact is, evil takes many. . . Many. . . MANY forms. Arson, murder and Jaywalking are the most easily identifiable traits.
Physical damage is a no-no.
But, the psychological damage words incur? Or that people who manipulate and leave you with? Society expects you to just deal with it.
Why is that? Because we can understand physical assault, but psychological assault? Most people insist that if you have psychological issues you are weak (some are.) but these people have never been tested and likely live posh stress-free lives.

The world itself is filled with equal amounts of good and bad like say nature, its beautiful with flowers and sceneries and things like that but it can also be violent and dangerous with things like storms, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, etc. But the reason I voted the world is filled with mostly bad is because of humans, humans have made almost everything bad, weapons, crime, pollution, animal poaching, things like that that are more mainstream but also not so mainstream things like parents being controlling and restrictive of their kids just so they can have a sense of control over something. Being physically or emotionally abusive or demeaning or condescending to someone so that by hurting these people and making them seem and feel bad they can make themselves feel better about the pathetic failures that they are. Little kids in the playground pushing and throwing things at other kids is proof that humans are born bad and most of the time become worse and worse. So to sum it up, the world itself is in my opinion mostly good with its fair share of bad too but humans are mostly bad/evil but I'm not denying the good that's out there too...

Only 144, 000 chosen by God will go to heaven. So it's up the 144, 000 of the earth to spread the good news about the Kingdom of God. Only virgins in the Holy Spirit are sealed by God. They have the power of god. They are the chosen one's by god. They are anointed by God. They will go to heaven after their physical body is murder by Satan. So I will die in Christ Jesus. And by the Holy Spirit I will fallow where ever the Holy Spirit takes my soul.
It is bad because we are destroying ourselves. Not the lowly people but the money and power that are facilitating our demise. We are polluting our planet at light speed and at the rate we are going the oceans, from which we get a lot of our food from, will be dead. When it dies we die. People are getting dependent on drugs and are in reality funding the drug cartels who are nothing but murderers and thugs. We are spending countless billions trying to get to a dead planet while problems at home are not being addressed. Thousands of people die each day of starvation. Many people have no fresh water to drink. Governments are getting more crooked while the people are oppressed even though they think they have freedom. Mental illness is running rampant and people are killing each other and their focus is on sex and depravity. We are doomed and are powerless to stop it.
Humans have been through wars, plagues that killed half the population, dictators, floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, nuclear disasters, genocides, devastating droughts, and economic collapses.
Yet somehow we have survived. Why? Because even in the middle of a war, with bombed out crumbling buildings, there is a complete stranger in a store helping a little old lady get something down from the top shelf. They might not be a saint. They might have their flaws. But they don't need to be saints. Because they vastly outnumber the bad guys.
If you are looking for something, that is what you will find.
If we want to see only good, we will find more good. If we want to see only bad, we will find more bad.
Working in law enforcement, I see bad things every day. At the same time I see ordinary people trying to stop those bad things from happening.
I would ask this though. If we did not have bad, how would know what good is? If we did not feel pain, how would we recognize the feeling of joy? Without one, we don't know what the other is.
The world is mostly good. We have totally annihilated various diseases and many other causes of death through science combined with capitalism which provides the economic power to spread wealth and thus spread those technologies, devices and ideas which lower death rates of all sorts. This will continue of course as we get better and better. Knowledge is more widespread and human suffering in the whole is declining. It is in our nature to have developed like this, even though many people see it as pure evil that there are a few rich people with the most at the top, the reality is that that is how it must be for human suffering to be reduced at the fasted rate, while human flourishing is increased at the fasted rate.
But this thing, called capitalism, is probably most people’s number 1 choice of evil in the world. Isn’t that silly? I think it is.
Well it’s definitely no where near 50-50. The world is mostly good. Look at the news. You see bad things, but that’s because that’s what stands out. If the world was bad, these things wouldn’t stand out. The bad gets our attention more, and gets a reaction from us... because we’re good.
The vast majority is good, and doesn’t get attention because it’s the norm.
Look at people who make their careers out of helping people; firefighters, police, teachers, doctors, nurses, ambulance people... the list goes on, and these people greatly outnumber the bad, AND they get little recognition. You don’t see it, because you’re used to seeing it.
If anyone tells you the world is a bad place, even if they have reason to see it that way, remember this: they are wrong.
And remember this, even with all the bad in the world, there has never been a better time to be alive in all of human history.
The true question is what is Good? and if good exists then the opposite must.

Its all subjective. Morality doesn't exist. Most women in western societies think its ok to terminate a pregnancy, and nearly a million babies are murdered each year.
Many people think this is bad, and immoral, while the other half thinks, the slaughter of innocent unborn is justified because it would inconvenience their life.
There is no good, or bad, there just IS. once you boil things down to a dichotomy, there can never be unity. people love dichotomies.
I would not say that it is good or bad. If you forced me to choose, however, I would choose bad. The world does not care about your emotions or your morals. Every single species aside from ours does not have a notion of good or bad. It is more a notion of "Eat, survive, reproduce". It is perhaps for this reason that we invented morals. We feel as though us being in a group makes us stronger and safer. It does not even matter. What if a huge asteroid collided with earth tomorrow? What if some huge ass cosmic events light years away sends off a beam of gamma radiation and it hits earth? We are done. What if you get a brain aneurysm? You are done. The world will not miss or care.
When it comes to morals, and it comes down to you or me, I will always choose myself.

I recently went through a terrible ordeal with hurricanes and flooding in my city and you cannot imagine the level of goodness that came out of so many who wanted to help perfect strangers. But as soon as I write that, there was a level of greed and sometimes pure evil, as some sought to fully take advantage of those in need and in distress.
I choose mainly to think of the world as a good place, but there is an understanding within me, that in order to really be able to recognize and appreciate the good, in a weird way, we must know the bad. What is a good day or a great day if every single day is great? You must set your mind to understanding that there are both good and bad in this world and you do need to, in a way, believe more in the good than the bad, because once you go on believing there is only bad in this world, it shapes the way you begin to view even the good.
D - other about people. The World Almanac shows most people belong to a religion. Once on TV money was being thrown out of an armored car (I think by an armored car driver) as a test to see how many people are honest. There were phone calls to the police. Some people took the money and turned it in. Others kept it.
On I think the radio it talked about the experiment and the TV said as more people found out where to return the money more got returned. Most of the money was returned. Finally if most people were bad a law wouldn't work.
Most of the world could be bad. In the late 1990s or early 2000 a newspaper article said 60 something % of the world or the nations are poor.
This is more of a question a kid would ask? What is good and bad? Everyone has different morals. A chicken may perceive you as the devil since you eat chicken. A dog may think you are God... Good and bad are very subjective terms, this is not a question that can have a clear answer...
Ok the world is mostly good. Made up of good people doing their own thing, and just living life for the betterment of those around them. But in a group of 100 people if one is being an arsehole and the rest are just getting on with it who's going to leave an impression?

It appears you're referring to the human race rather than the world (which is benign). My conclusion for the human race is that they are essentially fancy sheep, and not nearly as clever as they first appear to be. Good. We just take that for granted, so we don't pay much attention to the good moments, especially if they don't affect us directly. There's also something related to human nature to focus on the bad things. It comes down to survival. But if you look at the world, it's mostly good. It's not easy, but it's more good than bad. There would be constant chaos if it was the opposite.
It's 50/50 because some of the world is good, and some of the world is bad. It just depends on everyone and how they act towards the world. You can make the world and people in it better, or you can tear them down, but you have to make the choice.
There is an imbalance. If we are destroying our only home, what that tells you? If developed countries submit countries in development to a regime of exploitation and political interference for their own interest.. What that means? Sure, we have advanced as humanity, the only problem is that we find tough to see our self as brothers and sisters. Everyone wants to be on top, no one wants to share the possibility of advancing together.
God created the world good but due to sin it is bad. Through His grace fortunatly still a lot of good can be found in the world and in us. My mission in life is to live close to Him so he will do good things in and through me knowing that he frorgives my trespasses
Both. It depends on who you ask. In this case, I'm a pretty glass if half full guy. I mean think about it. Statistically, violence has actually gone down. Statistically speaking, more people then ever have access to healthcare and less people are dying from preventable diseases. People are living longer.
The only thing Inwould really say is our biggest concern is the environment. We need to stop pollution and we need to stop global warming.

People can they are "good" in their own eyes all they want, but but deep underneath the surface of their heart resides all that I mention above and much more.
A challenging question. The answer is both. It is like a garden... you plant good seed, but without a lot of maintenance, the weeds take over and choke out the good crop.
Mostly good. Although there are always areas of conflict, the vast majority of earthlings are good at heart, mean well and wish good will for their neighbors.

Even if we ignore all the terrible things, of which you listed only a few, the very fact we are all going to die and everyone and everything we ever loved will disappear and die and be forgotten is enough to make the world shit and to make life meaningless. Its all gonna be dust, and its all gonna be forgotten. Until mankind finds a way to beat death, everything will remain shit
Death can't be beaten because it's the "natural order of things", unfortunately. Instead, all we and pretty much any and all organisms do is reproduce again and again to deny this inevitable outcome. And even then I find that to be futile. Still solves nothing.
Death can't be completely beaten either way, that's just wishful thinking. Way too many things that can happen and would potentially annihilate us all.
If the universe itself can also die and come to an end eventually, then I can't see how we're gonna ever beat that in any form or way, we haven't even come anywhere close to beat deaths specifically from aging and illnesses yet.
At least you recognize the emptiness and futility of it all. To me it's all one bad joke more than anything else. And then people continue to fight each other over petty and unimportant things, always destroying each other over something they want to gain or attain, when clearly, eventually and inevitably that we'll absolutely lose all of that we gain or attain.
@JudgmentDay There was one man who seemed to be able to beat death. His name was Li Ching Yuen, and he lived for 256 years. There are documents showing the Chinese government congratulating his 150th and 200th birthday. His old neighbors said that their grandfathers told them how Li was a grown man when they were kids. They say he looked like a regular old person, and his eyesight was pretty good as well. And it has never been disproved, the only counter argument is "its impossible", which is not much of an argument.
Anyway, Li claimed to have learned the secret of immortality from a 500 year old man he found in the mountains. And before dying, Li said that "he did everything he wanted to do in this life" and basically died on his own terms. Plus, the essence of every religion ever known, and the story of every prophet ever was that the ultimate goal of humanity was to beat death.
So I believe it is possible, I just doubt it will happen anytime soon, if it ever does
Um, that's only longer lifespan or increased lifespan. Still does not change the fact that everything can die from physical trauma, or some other great cosmic or cataclysmic event like an asteroid hitting earth etc. It's still only delaying and postponing the inevitable outcome. There's nothing that has shown that it's possible to defy and beat the laws of physics. It's impossible to be fully indestructible and never ever die is what I meant. Not dying from aging only is still limited immortality, because everything else can still cause someone like that to die.

I'd have to disagree on that since physical trauma and accidents that result in deaths are quite common and frequent, if not more frequent. The way I see it, it woulr be pointless and defeat the whole point of immortality if one is ONLY immune to dying from aging, and/or immune to dying from illnesses. Do not ever forget about and take into account of how we still have to eat, breath air, drink water and fluids and need to sleep and rest too. If those are still required in order for someone to continue to live and stay alive despite being not able to die from aging then it's still going to be deeply problematic.

The world is mostly bad... And my reasoning is simple. everybody is looking out for their own self-interest, and you have no reason to believe that anyone would have your interest at heart, unless they were gaining something for themselves.

I think the average person is good and has good intent. The world appears to be a bad place because we tend to focus on the negative things going on in the world. And let's face it, the world is a tough place for a lot of people!
The 5% that is good is not found in humans. Humans are the worst things on the planet by far. Worse than animals yet we are supposed to be more advanced than them...
We're the unnecessary additions to this planet I'd have to say. So now we pay the price and have to go through much miseries before our species's time is up eventually. I mean can you honestly tell me whether this planet was already sufficient and adequate when it only had animals and plants on it? I mean can you honestly tell me whether they are already in perpetual harmony and balance with one another unlike how we are or had become?

There is no good and bad it’s just concepts we make. The person doing something bad could be doing good it’s just a response to the environment and our own choices.

This is the only planet that has a biosphere at least within our own solar system, every other planet and even our sun, there's no "good" or "bad" on any of them, but rather they're "completely neutral", void of biosphere, thus they're completely void of any and all life, except if you count microorganisms like germs and bacteria, assuming any of them exist at all and reside on any of those other planets. So don't forget about neutrality or complete neutrality. From my perspective they're perfectly balanced as they are, and all of them are doing just perfectly fine unlike how Earth currently is, they never have anything "good" or "bad" happen to them and it shows that it is completely and even unnecessary to have any "good" or "bad" at all, and they all just continue to spin and turn endlessly fine as they always had been and always will be. They didn't need life or any organisms added to them and they're doing absolutely fine as they all are.
Bad. Still borderlines. Still a type zero civilization. Still starving children even when there are obese people in other parts of the world. Still a class system with broken economic practices.
People are just trying to survive; so, good and bad is just relative to the individual.

I was just poking a little fun. I really don't want to make a big deal out of anything.
