Guy friend is dissapointed I can't be friends because I like him and he doesn't like me back?

I told guy friend I couldnt continue being friends with him. I really like him back and he couldnt return them. Cool no problem we're adults. I supported his brief relationship with someone else. I was happy for him. Today I snap because I was so crushed. I told him why I can't be friends anymore. I said " Can I ask you a question? you're mad because I dont want to be your friend because I have feelings for you and I want you to be happy so you're mad at me? He sends back "I dont understand your ideaology but whatever floats your boat. I'm not angry or mad just dissapointed". Someone please explain to me here why he feels dissapointed when I'm the one who has loved him for a year?

He probably doesn't want to hurt you. I know if a woman was in love w me and I didn't feel the same i wouldn't wanna be around her too much

I told him I liked him pretty early on. We were both nervous to blow it. So he suggests getting to know me better as friends. Down the road I go quiet and he approaches me about my feelings. I sense the conversation won't end well so I change the conversation. Then this convo happened tonight

Um this is clearly a guy who has never been rejected by a friend or he would understand exactly how you feel. I think he sounds a bit self-righteous. You're "dissapointed" who are you my parents, good riddance I think you're doing the right thing.

He’s a friend that doesn’t like you back? Interesting! He’s not truly disappointed, he just doesn’t wanna seem like a douche bag for not being attracted to you. How attractive is he? Does he play football? It’s also possible he may not like women. If he’s into men, then I could see why he’d be disappointed with losing you as a friend. Try talking to him.
