So should I actually give him the last chance to clear things up?

So, I reconnected with my middle school classmate on Instagram and we became quite good friends and right now we are in the same college under different majors. But the day before joining the college he questioned our friendship and we had a small discussion about that, and I decided to give him his space. He totally forgot about me and went on with his life.

I then confronted him again in 3 months about our so-called relationship, he talked and then again he went cold.. this went on for 2 years. We would talk when we would be back in our town, and after getting to college we wouldn't.

And apparently, what makes me angrier is all this time I have been the one initiating the conversation, he always says he is sorry or things are going hard for him and all.. I don't know what to do. I feel I should stop talking to him altogether, but I can't move on from the kind of friendship we had. I miss that.

Last time, a month ago, I told him to explain what was going on with him ASAP, and he said okay he will.. He still hasn't done anything in regard with that. And I am more worried because recently he tried harm on self which is quite concerning to me. I am confused, should i try talking to him for the last time? Should I ask him to explain himself for the last time?

So should I actually give him the last chance to clear things up?
